A few days ago one of my fellow 'Crappers posted a link to an 8-bit version Wouldn't It Be Nice by the Beach Boys. youtube.com/watch?v=LQ8-jUJYnTk&feature=relatedHearing this got me wondering how I would be able to do something like this. Any beat-producing 'Crappers familiar with this type of electronic music making? I downloaded the trial version of FL Studio and while it's really slick, I'm admittedly clueless as to how to use it to it's full capacity. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

did Ani give you that link? if not he'll love it. there's a freeware program you can find online that can turn Midi's into 8-16 bit themes. i believe it's called GXSCC. here's a good example. youtube.com/watch?v=9A2w-8SRbEU

Is it only MIDI's that they're able to turn into 8-Bit? I thought maybe technology advanced enough to where we could NES actual music (MP3, WMA, etc.) files by now?

yep. it's just Midi's.
there are other programs out there that can convert Mp3's and such, but they require alot of time and effort into learning what the hell to do to get it right.
this is pretty much the easiest method.

If you already have FL Studio, I recommend learning it better and produce your own original songs.

Well, right now I've only got the demo version of FL Studio and like I said I'm very impressed with what I've messed around with thusfar. The whole setup is pretty overwhelming for somebody who's never used any studio equipment before though.

GXSCC is pretty much what I was looking for, thanks a bunch Sin.
Now, I just need to find a site that has current MIDI's. Also, I too would like to know how to save these things.
