I've heard some weird things about the masons...especially the left breast getting pierced with a needle one...I've considered joining the masons when I'm older (only 20 at the moment) as I've heard it's a good way to make connections...you know like how you get ahead of people because of the people you know type of thing...

The Discovery Channel did an excellent documentary on the Free Masons. It pretty much dispells every single myth there is about them.

I've been to a combined event where they brought in a new candidate and given my girlfriend a scholarship (her dad's a Mason) and they're.....interesting to say the least. I saw the Discovery Channel special on them and it covers about 30% of what they do, or at least what I saw. In fact, I don't even know all that they do, as I and all others who were guests and not members (my girlfriend and her mother included) were asked to leave the room for around 30 minutes as they continued with their ceremony. I really felt odd being there, but my girlfriend asked me to come with her father's blessings (I think I'm a targeted recruit) to watch her pick up her award.
She (my girlfriend) thinks its a bit off and isn't interested in joining the Eastern Stars at all (female equivalent of the Masons). Supposedly Masonry is similar to Scientology, in that the "entry level" members aren't privy to the entire story until they reach a certain level. Probably a lot of hoopla and BS thrown into the mix, but I'm sure half of the guys there are trying to get away from their wives, exploit the "Good Ole Boy System" and drink beer, the other half think they're in a secret society which makes them important.

No, no, no. All Shriners are Masons, but not all Masons are Shriners. Shriners are an order of masons. So, you could get a little car.
Some Christian Churches, including the Roman Catholics, ban membership in some Fraternal Orders, including the Freemasons. The reasons are arcane, but usually are due to divergent views on the Nature of the Deity, and/ or supposed alliance with Satan.
Honestly, I doubt the Masons have secret control of anything. Men love fantasy, and a group of well connected men who meet in secret is always going to have influence of some kind.

My uncle had a little fire truck.......I swear it looked something out of Dead Kennedy's album, I drove the truck. I wore the hat.
There's supposed to be reptilian bloodlines and all sorts of stuff going on.
I don't mean to say they're connected or anything, like I said I got cousins into it and they don't look like reptiles, at least not all of them.
