Show appreciation for these two classic Game Boy games from yesteryear. Talk about which of the three you started off with, your favorite Pokemon, your favorite city, or just random miscellaneous thoughts. I myself, would always start off with Squirtle. I was a fan of his look and his moves. The Water type was my favorite of the different styles.

I always chose Charmander. Fire-breathing lizards FTW.
My favorite pokemon were the ugliest and most badass looking ones. Golem, Gyarados, Machamp, Kingler, Cloyster, Exeggutor immediately come to mind.

I really enjoyed starting with all three Pokemon but I have to say more often than not Charmander would get the nod. Ember usually made quick work of the bug catchers and their lame Caterpie's and annoying Weedles (due to poison sting). As you level up with Charmeleon it learns what I consider to be the best physical attack in the game - slash. The high critical hit ratio wrecked havoc on the other Pokemon. Nothing needs to be said for Flamethrower, it was just brutal.
Always hated trudging through Victory Road and Rock Tunnel. Just Zubat infested bores. And 9/10 when I eventually faced the Elite 4 for the first time most of my squad would be in the mid 40's, which meant taking loss after loss until your own Pokemon could stand toe to toe with what the Elite 4 had to offer.
Although I must admit that Silver was always my favorite of the whole series due to the fact you could go BACK to Kanto which was all kinds of awesome.

Red and Blue were probably the best out of all the series, because back then you can actually CATCH ALL THE POKEMON. These days you need like 10 games and a trip to the mall in order to do that. Stop f'n with us Nintendo.
And I always started with Water Pokemon.

Blue is in my top 3 games of all time, no doubt. The first time I played the game, I defeated the Elite 4 witha level 64 Venasuar, a level 32 Pigeotto, and a level 26 Graveller coming in as my third highest powered Pokemon. Man, were those battles awesome.

anybody ever use the Mew glitch to get a Mew? I did when I played Yellow on an emulator last year (it worked), but that doesn't really count. Back in the day when I had the red version I had no knowledge of the glitch. My Dugtrio was a freaking killer, by the way.

If you liked Red/Blue, you ought to be playing Diamond/Pearl. It's exactly the same, but bigger, more strategy, wifi trades/battles, global trade centre, battle anyone in the world with a friend code.... Soooo good.
Oh, and Aerodactyl was the BOY. I once battled a guy with 3 hacked Mewtwos, 2 hacked Mews and a Venusaur, and beat him with just the Aerodactyl. I think this was in Silver though, I know it wasn't in the original because it had Sandstorm, Double-Edge, Swagger and Double Team. Double Team a bunch of times, Swagger, Sandstorm, Double-Edge. They couldn't hit you, hurt themselves, took damage every turn from Sandstorm. Beautiful.

I chose charmander the first time through.
infact I think I beat that game with all three starters eventually. the best starter was bulbasaur because he was just insanely powerful. although I liked warturtle and the first time I went through the remake I kept mine the same and nicknamed him warmachine.
I should really finish the remake <_< and pokemon xd >_>
hey I want the cheapest set of pokemon for pokemon diamond.
