This is a series of movies from Japan called Shuto Kousoku, about illegal highway racing around Tokyo's famous Shutokou highway system. Some of these movies were banned by Japanese police for promoting reckless behavior. They feature cameos by (and I believe the second film stars) Drift King Keiichi Tsuchiya. They were subbed and released in the US in 2004 as "Freeway Speedway" or "Tokyo Speedway" I bring you this thread today because I found some of the racing parts of the movies on youtube. Unintentional comedy ensued. Yes, the actual stunt driving parts look VERY dangerous and are intense to watch, but I can't get over how every race starts with a close up shot of a girl's face looking concerned, and almost every one of these battles ends with a horrible accident. Seriously, this first one hurt me watching it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=aM5cB3KqBG8(FC3S) RX-7 vs. (R32) Skyline GT-R Ouch. Rematch: www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCRc2RDmV6o&feature=relatedPriceless. Last battle: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rK_dcBkNXGM&feature=relatedWell, nothing too terrible happened there. There's a lot of these around youtube, but I just posted a few from the fifth movie. Maybe someone else will find these sort of offbeat funny and cool at the same time too.

Ah yes, we were discussing this last night. The battles are quite awesome, and indeed hilarious.
Also I dig the fact that there's no background music...it just kinda adds to the drama of the race, which is cool. In other hands I imagine there'd be some lame rap, rock, or techno being played in the background.
