I went to a friends house on Friday and got to play GTA IV on 360...needless to say a few minutes in I decided I could not live without it. I've been shopping around for a 360 and setting aside a fund to purchase one. I asked my friend who works at a game store which one to get and he recommended the "Premium" package, which I'm guessing he meant the "Pro" one, easy mistake to make. That one seems ok, a few people at work recommended the Elite, but my friend said that one is a waste of money. And money is something I do NOT have a lot of. I can understand the goodness of the Elite though, the premium HD cables and all that jazz. Are the failure rates at least down on either model? I was going to just buy one used until I was told MS is requesting the receipt when you turn it in for servicing now. And if it's registered to someone else you may be screwed. But yeah, help me out here fellow crappers, please?

They sent me an entirely different system thats has so far worked. Also sent a free month of XBOX Live. Interesting to note too that you get a free month of Live with GTA IV as well. If im not mistaken M$ has upped the warranty on the 360s to 3 years due to the RROD.

Yeah, the warranty is 3 years now. I'd go with the Pro 360 unless you're in need of HDMI support and a huge HDD.

I'd go with the Pro 360 unless you're in need of HDMI support and a huge HDD. The Pro versions that are sold nowadays have HDMI support, the earlier Premium ones (such as mine) didn't. A HDMI cable isn't included, though.

Is this a RECENT development? 'cause I got my Pro in February and it doesn't have HDMI support.

I think the biggest difference is thus: 360 basic or arcade: no hard drive Bad idea getting this model if you want to download and save games. 360 Premium: 20 gig hard driveThe one I have. Good model, but check to see if it has a hdmi port. That way you know you have the new model 360 Pro: 20 gig hard driveSame as the premium, but with a couple more extras which I cannot remember at this time. 360 Elite: 120 gig hard driveGood for people who love downloading lots of games and videos. comes with the hdmi port and several extra goodies to justify it's higher price tag. I've heard the newer models down't have as many issues, HOWEVER, play it safe and buy a warranty. I got a 3 yr extended warranty from target myself.

It sure doesn't. And it was manufactured on the 4th of January this year.

Actually, I believe that model comes with a 256MB(I think) Memory card so you CAN save games. Also, you can just buy a HD drive later. That's what my brother did.

I have the basic system and it did not come with a memory card. I had to purchase that myself. Maybe the arcade version does though.

I usually only recommend the Elite to those that plan on downloading a lot of stuff. Otherwise I just recommend the $349.99 package (which is what I got last October, so far no problems).
