I was playing Mega Man Anniversary Collection this morning and it brought back a ton of memories.
I thought Mega Man was good. (Thogh Ice Man's stage was always a pain.) One of the first games I owned on the NES.
Mega Man II was even better. More bosses, great graphics, and an awesome soundtrack. Life is good.
I'll always be partial to Mega Man III. It was one of, if not the first, video game I ever beat. And it's tied with II as my favorite Mega Man game. I dare say that I like the soundtrack and III better than II and that's saying a lot. Mega Man III, to me, was more of the same but in a good way.
Mega Man IV is where I thought the series started to decline. The bosses started getting lame. Mega Man IV seemed like more of the same, but in a bad way. Dr. Cossack? Please...
Mega Man V: Is Capcom even trying anymore? Bosses are extra lame. Everything is extra lame. Either Capcom started running out of ideas or Dr. Wily started running out of parts to build robots. Sorry, I just didn't like it at all.
Mega Man VI: Uh....yeah....
Mega Man VII: I remember playing this on SNES and liking it a lot. I haven't played it again since though. So I'm not sure how it would stand with me today.
Mega Man VIII: Meh. To me, it's not the worst game in the series, but it darn sure isn't one of the best either.
Your thoughts on the Mega Man series? (The only game I've played in the X series is the first one, which I enjoyed greatly. So I really don't have much to say on that series except Sigma can go jump head first off a bridge and land in a pool of hydrochloric acid.)

Disagree almost universally once you hit IV. This is one of my favourite series of all time easily...and honestly I really, really love all of them.
IV was the first one I played...rented it out of curiosity, and I never stopped from there.

Mega Man III was my favorite of all time. II was right up there too.

Once you get past the pretty horrible controls in Mega Man 1, it's fine fine fun. I hadn't played it in years until the Collection came out....but man, those controls were terrible.

II and III were my favorites. The soundtracks for those two games just can't be touched.

Did he ever learn to shoot straight up or diagonally? Cause that crap annoyed me MMX7. And yet they took that power away from him in MMX8.

MMX7. And yet they took that power away from him in MMX8. Was that him or Axl? That was Axl. And that game was...not great. The only one in the two main series that I don't care for.

That was Axl. And that game was...not great. The only one in the two main series that I don't care for. Was MMX7 the one with the poorly implemented 3-D stages? Because I remember somebody being really happy that X8 was back in 2-D again. Also, I know the Original Series is over and done with, but are there any plans to make further X Series entries?

Yeah, X7 was the one with the 3D stages that felt like you'd been taken back to 1996 and you were suddenly playing an especially pretty early PS1 game.

I think X is done too. I remember hearing that in X8's ending it's pretty clear that Sigma is gone for good. So that leaves us with... ZX and the Battle Network series?

Did he ever learn to shoot straight up or diagonally? Cause that crap annoyed me Yeah but if you do that a key feature of Mega Man is lost.

the gamecube version is f***ed up. the Buttons are switched. meaning, a is shoot, and B is Jump. once you get the hang of it, it's not too bad.
Mega man III Is my favourite of the series. the First one i beat as well. and Mega Man 6 is the only one i actually own at the time for the NES.

Only criticism I have of Mega Man is they never could get the difficulty right. Odd numbered Mega Man's were really hard, even numbered were too easy.

I loved Dust Man's music in IV. The music was always a high point for the entire Megaman series.

the issue with the anny collection is that I think they took out the pause trick, so I still can't get past yellow demon.
