I don't read comics any more, but when I did, boy, did I buy a ton of crap. I've been trying to get rid of most of mine, but I've kept my favorite: Trasmetropolitan. But in the context of this thread, I loved one that I think no one else did. In fact, I believe most of the ones I have came from the quarter boxes... So, how's about youse guys?

Not only is Major Bummer great, but its actually getting collected in a trade paper back! It may already be out, not sure. Its not threw DC, but it DOES contain all 15 issues in one book!!! One of the smartest books about teen superheroes only lasted 12 issues, which is a shame because it was the heftiest read each month it was out. you could not just breeze threw it, because each page was jam-packed with great stuff. How I miss you, Punchy.

Bobobobobobobo, I mean come on. How can no one like a comic book series about a guy with a giant afro, that use noise hair for his weapons That have a commrade a guy that a poop for a head, a kid that use farts as an atttack moves, a guy made out of jello, a crazy insane rock candy, and Topedo Girl.

I really enjoyed DC's Wild Dog mini-series and stuff. Everyone said he was just a Punisher knock-off, but he didn't really have all that angst. He was just kind of your average Joe Sixpack, who decided to fight crime.
I also dug Marvel's Sleepwalker, as it somehow combined a super hero story with a sort of surrealist horror story. That was pretty fun, though his villains were ridiculously cheesy. It added to the fun, but I could see how one would not want to pick it up if your main character is fighting a villain with a giant 8-Ball on his head!
Lastly, I loved Peter David's 60 issue run of Captain Marvel, starring Rick Jones and Genis-Vell, son of the original Mar-Vell. Whether it was the buddy comedy of the first volume or the dark, twisted humor of the second, it never really stopped being a fun read. And when I met David, he told me it was a blast to write, as well! Unfortunately, it was cancelled due to poor sales.

How I miss you, Punchy. I think a lot of people wanted to like The Intimates, but just couldn't get over the fact that the plot was basically non-existent. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate characterization over plot when it works well, but the problem with this book was that....nothing really ever happened. It looked like they were finally starting to move things along when it got canceled, but by then it was way too late.

I thought this was gonna be about stand up comics. Thank you, so did I. And I liked Emo Phillips too. And Gilbert Gottfried and Greg Proops.

Marvel's Thunderstrike. Everybody seemed to write him off as nothing but a Thor clone...and while he was, I guess, I enjoyed his adventures just as much as Thors, and thought he deserved better than what he got.

Eh, it was alright, but Thunderstrike felt sorta like the Poochy of the Thor mythos. Like, "let's take Thor, but make him more modern and edgy." Anyway, I forgot to mention that I really enjoyed that Weir/DeFillipis run of New Mutants/New X-Men: Academy X. I can't really explain it, but they took a little X-Men, a little 90210, mixed it all together and came out with something pretty fun. Unfortunately, it took awhile before they found their audience...a little too late, as right when sales started going up, they were replaced by Craig Kyle and Chris Yost...the "creators" of X-23. *shudder* And in their first few issues, they completely Mary Sued X-23 into being the main character.

From the "Story arc" thread, i saw no end of bashing for this saga but i loved every second of it.

Darkhawk, Marvels 2099 line (well, ravage was kind of dull), and justice league europe (got nowhere near the fanfare of JLA and JLI).

I really like Avengers Dissassembled. I seem to be in the minority about that.
that aside, this is the only place I've ever seen people talk shit about "Hush". I myself really like it.
