Got a fake letter that claimed to be from Charter

So today I got a letter from "Charter" claiming that I had illegally downloaded MANHUNT 2. This was odd for several reasons: (1) I never downloaded the game, (2) my computer doesn't have enough free space to run a PS game, and (3) I didn't even like the first MANHUNT.

So I called Charter and they informed me that they didn't send the letter, and that some third party did (possibly wanting my credit card information). Needless to say, I was a little surprised.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? And if so, what did you do about it?

I've recieve EMAILS like that....but never snail mail. That is indeed odd. But you did the right thing in reporting it promptly.

I got one a while back about supposedly downloading the third Pirates of the Carribean movie. Never downloaded it, let alone watched it... and moreso, it wasn't even from my cable provider. I just junked it.

I think it might be a problem in my area. Why? Because the Charter help-line has been busy all night. I'd imagine some people are freaking out, and I can't blame them.
