Just so everyone knows that is the 5-Day Memorial Day Opening number (Thursday-Monday), it's traditional 3-day (Fri-Sun) is 101,000,000. Still a great number. For the US gross that is.

Guys, Dark Knight is NOT Ledger's last film. The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is Heath Ledger's last film.

That's a decent worldwide figure, puts the film at #6 for worldwide openings.
I enjoyed the film but I'm a little perplexed by it's success.
I guess I misjudged how many fans this series had.
I'm curious if any exit polls reveal if these are mainly old fans or new ones, because I don't think the advertising did anything to entice new fans to this series.
I still predict TDK for the win!

my bet that I made that the sex and the city movie won't do well is looking more and more like a good idea each passing week. It'll gross atleast 100 million. Do you know how many women watched that series and likely own it on DVD? I'm actually kind of confused why it gets such heat on here. I've seen an episode or two, and while it's definitely not the show for me, it isn't bad. I just assume most people are intimidated by successful women who don't play the "girl next door" stereotype.

I'm intimidated by women who are presented as looking great but in actuality have faces like feet. Also, I don't think "successful" is the right term; more like "buys all the shoes."

I think SatC can do well in it's own right, but I have a little friendly wager with Jmac that he thought Iron Man wouldn't even be in it's league. Following box office for the last 10 years of my life I knew that was wrong right off the bat. So saying those things may make it seem like I'm trying to say Sex can't be a hit at all.

Either way, I don't really care.
I just hope lots of films make a profit at the b.o.
Even....even....The Incredible Hulk (hey it looks bad, but I still hope it cracks $100 mil)

Not bad for the so called "worst of the series" (not that I'm bitter or anything, but I don't think I've experienced such a difference of opinion between me and critics in a while)

I'm willing to be proven wrong (you hear me, Ed Norton!). Then again, I really liked Ang Lee's "Hulk" so maybe I'm just THE asshole with awful taste. *shrug*

I think it looks pretty weak compared to Iron Man, The Dark Knight, and Hellboy 2. It looks sorta Fantastic Four-ish.
That being said, I still hope as many films as possible crack $100 mil.

Minus the Hellboy 2 part (which I'm really looking foward to as well) and I agree. But that shows you how much I love comic book movies.

I didn't even think Hellboy 1 was all that great (it was okay, but it felt kinda lacking somewhere...can't quite put my finger on where), but the trailer for Hellboy 2 gave me chills. Just thought I'd share that. And, I think I've made it obvious that I also love comic book movies...for the most part.

When i was at the theatre, there was a mix of literally all ages. From little kids to the elderly. And this was memorial day at 4:45 By the way, i really really liked it. A lot.

Hmmf. So much for Dark Knight being a "lock" for top grosser of the year, huh Thread From a Few Days Ago? I still think it's a lock, there is too much hype and add to the fact that this will be Heath Ledger's last film. I thought The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is Ledgers last film
