I don't know which MLB team I should be jeering more: The Boston Red Sox or Chicago Cubs. Despite them not being in the NL, I think the Sox are leading.
As a Cards fan since I could walk, I naturally have heel heat with the Cubs. It's a fun hate with them. However, I'm starting to loathe the Red Sox more and more- not just in part to them sweeping the Cards in the 2004 world series, but also because of what I perceive to be the national media constantly shoving them down my throat- ESPN in particular.
(And yes, I know they devote a lot of attention to anything east coast-related in general, so please don't point out "what about their Yankee coverage?").
So am I overstepping the boundaries of my sports hatred, or can anyone else understand this? I'd like to especially hear from any members of Red Sox Nation on this especially.

Those without ties should hate both the Yankee and Red Sox organizations, ESPN, and the rest of the world for being swept along with it. It's them versus the league imo. I'd sometimes like to have comprehensive baseball coverage that spans all played games but am often treated to "Team A played Team B today. Team B won. Here's one highlight. Now on to what Jonathan Papelbon had for breakfast yesterday. Later, we'll have legend Cal Ripken Jr. in the studio......... and we'll see what he thinks about what Papelbon had for breakfast as well." I'm exaggerating but not by much.

I like baseball. I do. Casually, mind you. And I'm from New England, so the games I watch are mostly Sox games. And I like the team.
But I think the reason they get thrown around so much is just because they've done well recently. It happens in all sports. Most casual fans like teams that win. It's like how the Yankees have been popular with the masses, at times. Or the Cowboys for football. That kind of thing.
