**1/2 out of ****
MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD!
You all know who's in it and who made it, so I'm not going to bore you with that info!
Indy's back and it's 1957, which places it 19 years after the events of "Last Crusade". Now, our hero has become entangled in a Soviet plot to uncover mysterious artifacts called Crystal Skulls. Harrison Ford can probably play Indy in his sleep, and it seemed like he had no problem slipping back into the role (arguably his most well-known character).
What I did like was the introduction of new characters. Mutt (Shia LeBouf) a greaser who may or may not be Henry Jones III (credit rajah.com) was a fun character, even though I was not previously a fan of LeBouf. But the best is the return of Marion (Karen Allen), Indy's flame from "Raiders of the Lost Ark". Cate Blanchett's Soviet officer Irina Spalko, however seemed like she would have been better suited in an Austin Powers film.
The script is typical George Lucas. Five minutes into the film one of the characters betrays Indy, yet we don't know who this guy is, so why are we supposed to care?
The only comparison I can make is that the film reminded me of Lucas' "Star Wars Episode I - The Phantom Menace". It looked like it's predecessors but didn't feel like them.
And I have to defend one scene that gets a lot of 'net hate. The refrigerator scene. Yes it is a little ludicrous, but come on! have some suspension of disbelief! Are you going to honestly tell me that it's any less believable than, well, pretty much anything in "Temple of Doom"?
