So, I went for a pre-interview at FedEx last week (They show you what you do on the shift you're applying for, so they can weed out the ones who want to really do the job). Figured I wouldn't hear from them again and left it alone.
Yesterday, I got a call that they wanted me to come in for a second interview. I did a 20 minute interview and was hired on the spot. They don't usually do that at this facility.
So I am EXTREMELY happy right now. I recently moved, so now I don't have to worry so much about rent.
They start you out at about $9 h/r. It's part time, but I can move up to better paying jobs after a while, and we do get raises.
Anyone here ever work for FedEX?

We don't have benefits as part timers, but we have College based help. So when I go, they can help with it, pretty cool.

I work for FedEx National. (Heavy Loads)
FedEx just spent a ton of money to change the name of FedEx Kinko's to FedEx Office. Only major thing I like about FedEx is the benefits.

Congratulations man, I just got a new job this week as well. It's awesome how much a new job will raise your self-esteem and confidence. Anyways man hope you have a good time at FedEx. You're going to become f***ing ripped if you work there for a few weeks. I mean tearing phone books in half ripped.

oh god you're working at fed-ex ground?
my brother used to work there. good benefits but after the stories he told me on how they treat the packaging I will NEVER order anything from fed-ex ground.
they used to have contests to see who can throw the package the farthest.

I can move up to better paying jobs after a while, and we do get raises. Lies unless you've someone on the inside and yeah, you get raises but you'll find you'll top out criminally early. Actively pursue other work as you work there. Since you'll only be getting twenty to twenty-five hours a week you'll have plenty of time. I don't mean to rain on your parade but I'm serious. Get the hell out of there.

I can't wait until FedEx Kinko's becomes Fedex Office. I hate the name we have. On top of that, the corporate BS is through the roof. We're on our feet all day, but we can't wear gym shoes. We have to say "Yes We Can!" to everything. Since you're in shipping, you probably won't have to worry about customers that much, but the half-wits who walk into my store will make you question your hope in the human race. There's a reason why FedEx offers something like 8 free visits to the psychologist of your choice, per year. Believe me, I've used them.

Yeah... besides getting ripped. You nothing more then peice of meat. Not a good idea. I worked for True Green, which is the same sorta shit, but instead of working 20 hours for shit pay getting ripped, you work for 60 hours for shit pay getting ripped. I quit that bitch, now I work at Target working 40 hours and playing with a PDA all night.

You're going to become smurfing ripped if you work there for a few weeks. I mean tearing phone books in half ripped. I don't know that the image you posted has much to do with getting ripped. You're not from Mother Russia, are you, comrade? ;D

FedEx sounds like the best job in the world. Everbody's always happy to see you because they know you're bringing them something. I mean, you never hear anyone say, "Oh, great! It's the FedEx dude! It's really good to see you!.....bitch.."

I used to work for a big corporation. Benefits are always really good. Pay got to be OK, but all the corporate BS and treatment of people for a buck is pretty awful.

I don't suppose any of these FedEx locations are unionized? I always, if possible, shoot for work, even part time or temporary work, that will leave me with a union or the possibility of joining on. In terms of pay, benefits and the general quality of life in the workplace--there's no beating a unionized location, most of the time.

The only thing protecting you is your ability to deal with their BS.
