I'd say congrats, MCMGM, but judging from the sound of things, it might not be the best. But hey, a summer job's a summer job. I'm sure you'll do fine, dear. But just to make sure, I'll make sure to send you as much heavy stuff as possible through FedEx to keep you on your toes.

FedEx sounds like the best job in the world. Everbody's always happy to see you because they know you're bringing them something. I mean, you never hear anyone say, "Oh, great! It's the FedEx dude! It's really good to see you!.....bitch.." that's how I am when I see the fed-ex ground guy. seeing him and a package that looks like it's been through a meat grinder makes me hate fed-ex ground's guts and their lack of concern for packages. now ups, they actually give a crap on how your package is handled.

I don't suppose any of these FedEx locations are unionized? I always, if possible, shoot for work, even part time or temporary work, that will leave me with a union or the possibility of joining on. In terms of pay, benefits and the general quality of life in the workplace--there's no beating a unionized location, most of the time. LOL @ unions in the south...... Tears indeed. Stay safe, guys.

FedEx doesnt like Unions. Thats a fact.
FedEx gave out books telling why Unions are bad for the work place.

Thanks for the congrats, didn't mean to start anything negative though. My facility is cooler than hell, I don't know about every where else, but I have no problem with the people at mine.

I've been working with UPS for a month or two loading trucks.
I think we're enemies.
Anyhow, the biggest piece of advice I have is to watch out for any falling boxes. I have 2 friends who were in a similar position as yours, unloading trucks, and they both had boxes fall on their heads. One of them has had some reoccurring neck and back issues because of it.

Yeah, I took some shots to the head doing truck at Toys R Us. It didn't really make me happy. Let me ask, though, what you think of UPS? Looks like that's the only thing going in my immediate job future. Luckily, I've done trucks before, they should like that. The most important question is "do I have to wear brown?"
