I must've missed the funny part. Also, I would hate to see how fast gamers would run a company into the ground. I used to work at Rhino's that's how fast.

I go to my local GameStop BECAUSE of the employees there. They are good friends of mine who I like to spend hours just talking about video games.

I have 3 Gamestops near me. 2 of the stores I like going into cause the guys know me and I get into it with them and it's pretty good. The other one was just bad so I stopped going.

well the 4 gamestops ive been to, some are worse than others. I have had the same problem though, constantly being pushed to preorder something after politly saying, "no thanks".. and then they act like there is nowhere else to get the game... i hate them

my LOL @ Gamestop moment came almost to the day. Memorial day of 06. A couple months prior, I had bought some used PS2 games from Hastings for really cheap(I think they were $9 each, and it was buy 2 get 1 free, so I got 3 games for $20). Gamestop was doing a trade in deal where you'd get I think 10% additional store credit on trade ins. I traded a few games, and my barely used Gamecube(with some games). I ended up getting more for the games than I originally paid for them(I got about $12.50 each). I got enough to buy a new PS2, but a new game and guide.
But the local gamestops(we have 3 here. two in a mall, and one stand-alone) are all very great. The employees are all pretty knowledgable and nice. I talked with one employee last time about Metal Gear Solid 4.

You sort of can't blame them as GameStop pays the bare minimum wage, thusly most employees try their damnedest to earn extra money.

We have 2 Gamestops here. One gets on my last nerve, the other I like because they ask you about preorders that relate to what you are getting (say I'm buying a Wii game... they ask about a Wii game) and they don't get pushy about it. The bad one in town I literally had to tell the guy no something like 10 times one time. The last time I said it I was just like "I said NO MAN!"

You do realize the employees are required to ask - twice. The good one I was talking about will ask that many times roughly. The bad one I was talking about will hound and pester you until you just want to say "Screw It" and leave. Plus, I'm still of the opinion that I don't care how many times they are required to ask. It's still no less annoying on my end. The good store asks in a way that's not annoying, the bad one here... it just feels forced and pushed. The bad one here used to be cool. It used to be a place you could talk with knowledgable guys. Then they all got fired and/or quit and it has sucked ever since. I stopped going to GameStop/EB completely because of it. Then the new one opened closer to my house, I went and it was alright... so that's where I go now.

They never force me to take pre-orders.
I only get 6.25, but that's just 1 dollar less than what I got paid at Kohl's. It's mainly just a part-time deal anyhow, plus 'borrowing' new games is awesome.

I talked with one employee last time about Metal Gear Solid 4. Yeah, that's all I meant by the LOL @ them, just that I managed to get a nice amount of store credit for crap. I should really snag the X-Box 360 games they have on Club Live and trade them in as well. Anyway, I don't mind this store over all. I just preferred it when it was an Electronics Botique, mainly for the setup. Now the store's super crowded with too many shelves and bins and stuff and most of the time the store's jam packed with people. You usually have to wait to look at most shelves of games. Although, their prices beat fye's used games for the most part. I think the only price I got a better deal at fye was for American Wasteland. Oh, and for anyone who works there... can you trade in the Rock Band set?

(PERSONAL OPINION)
GameStop blows. A fraction of what you spent is what you get on the trade in.
You can't give in games with scratches YET they sell you ones with scratches in them and call them AS IS.
And where I USED to go, the little pricks behind the counter stole money off of my "reserve a copy today" card. I put down $20 on a game and when I came back a month later, there was only $5 on the card.
I spoke to the manager but they don't know what could possibly have happened.
"Did you use the card somewhere else, sir?" Yep. Went nutso and spent $15 on a...wait. What does GameStop have that's only $15? EVERYTHING'S expensive in that damned store! I DIDN'T use the card, I got ripped off.
Took my card, told the little bastard behind the counter that I'd be waiting for him after work, and I never returned to GameStop again.
I don't like getting jipped. It's bad business.

I have trouble with my local Gamestop. I have a very specific taste in games and they seem to think I should buy every dumb thing that comes down the pipe. I know there's all different shades of gamers out there but they don't seem to employ one single kid at any of the nearby locations who knows a single thing about the games I inquire about. Want to know what Rock Band songs are to be downloadable next? Cool. Want an impression of GTA4? Got you covered. Ask them a question about some obscure RPG or something and you can see it in their eyes that they're clueless an are about to wing it and make something up. Just say you don't know, you pricks. Don't shoehorn me into a game under false pretenses. I'm sure this is not true of all Gamestops but around here they are a bunch of industry marks and for the last time I don't want a Gamer's Edge card. I didn't want one two years ago when I first came here and haven't wanted one on any of my monthly or bi-monthly visits since then.

I loved how it took them months to get in Fire Pro wrestling after it came out even though everytime I ask I would get the commment about how a lot of people keep calling and asking for it. I was finaly told its taking so long to hit there store because it is considered a B-title. I think had it came out a 50 dollar game they would have gotten it in no problem. I just gave up and bought it on Amazon like Im sure a lot of people did.

I go to my local GameStop BECAUSE of the employees there. They are good friends of mine who I like to spend hours just talking about video games. Please tell me you dont sit in the store talking for hours. There is a Gamecrazy here where the employees and thier friends just talk and play games ALL day. If you need help or anything then you SOL and they act like your bugging them for asking a question.

My main gripe with Gamestop is employees borrowing new games which makes them used and then trying to sell it to me as new. The damn game is open but they expect me to pay full price. Bullshit.
