My main gripe with Gamestop is employees borrowing new games which makes them used and then trying to sell it to me as new. The damn game is open but they expect me to pay full price. Bullcrap. Precisely. I went in there to buy a NEW copy of Midway's Arcade Treasures 2 when it came out and the guy behind the counter gets one out of a cd sleeve and gets the case off the wall. I told him, "No, I'd like a NEW copy." "This is a new copy. Its just the one we took out of the display box." "That's an opened game. Opened games are used." "No, its never been played." (of course, no company would let their employees play new copies of the game and sell them as new afterwards) "Don't you have one still in the plastic?" (Deer in headlights) "I just don't want an opened copy, that's all." "Let me ask the manager." (Manager begrudgingly opens the sliding shelf doors behind the counter and *gasp!* pulls out a new copy) I leave with my NEW copy of the game. This is what pisses me off about Gamestop. I was just there yesterday to buy Wii Play (which sucks by the way and is only good for the extra controller) and I was comfortable buying it because I knew it had to be sealed for the Wiimote. HOWEVER, they have a big 50% off sale going on for a bunch of games for all the systems, all the way back to the PS2. I checked out their 50% off bin, and big surprise - EVERY LAST F'N ONE OF THE "NEW" GAMES ARE OPENED!! Not a damn one of them was still in the plastic. You could open them up and read the manuals if you wanted to. That's just bullcrap if you ask me. They're advertising new games for half off, but the games are opened and they're not even in the friggin' cases. I believe that's called false advertising. Next time you go to trade in some games to Gamestop, bring the game, case and manuals and tell them the game is new so you demand a higher trade in value. If they give you any crap, explain to them how they sell their "new" games. See if their heads don't explode.

Hypnotix, I share your hatred of buying already opened games. When I buy it new I don't want it opened. PERIOD.
However, just because it is already opened doesn't make it used. I don't like it any more then you, but that's pushing it. If it's just a case of only having one copy left and the display box is on the shelf it's still new.
And with all that said, if it's a case that one of them taking it home to play it, then bringing it back, that IS used, and that pisses me off.

My problem is, there's no way to prove that any one of the employees didn't take that game home and play it beforehand, but they'll still swear that its new. That's crooked if you ask me.

The ones in central PA are the worst of all, and they abuse the customers because they're the only 'specialty' store around and know that most people would rather avoid trying to deal with a place like Wal-Mart, Best Buy, or Circuit City, since they deal more in other things.
The GameStop employees here are getting to the point where they absolutely REFUSE to sell you a non-used game if you don't pre-order something first. (I believe this is mainly the invention of one of the managers, Walt White III, who manages many of the stores around the area.) I went in to but Ninja Gaiden 2 and GRID, and the guy at the counter said "You didn't pre-order either, so I can't sell them to you unless you pre-order something else." I told him if the company keeps up with bullcrap like that, nobody's going to come in there. Finally, he said since his manager just left, he'd sell them to me anyway.
I'm getting sick of the employees threatening me when I don't pre-order. It's almost to the point where I'm willing to wait the extra week and pay shipping just to get the games off of Amazon instead...

Oh, I agree on that front. I hate it as well. I bought a game the other say and specificly asked for an unopened copy. Not only do I not like not knowing if they played it themselves or not, I also don't like all those price tags and stickers all over my case.

Superman dat hoe from www.urbandictionary.comwhen you c** on a girls back then put a blanket on her so when she stands up the blanket sticks therefore making her look like she has a cape. __________________________ Our Gamestops in town have toned down lately on the whole cult like mentality where they go on and on and on about preordering games and trading in games. This one store I remember a few months ago straight up was harassing my friend about preordering games. He asked and pressured him like 5 or 6 times. Lately they have calmed down a bit.

I'll bet if you robbed a Gamestop at gunpoint, an employee would run over to the door and yell out after you "would you like to preorder Dragon Ball Z Burst Limit? Are you sure!?" as you fled.

I've only had a couple of problems with my local EB Games.
The first one was when I went in to buy a PS3 and saw that they had several PS3 boxes stacked in the corner with the big "$700" sticker on them. So I grabbed a box, took it to the counter and the guy behind the counter looked at me like I said "Bob Backlund is an ok wrestler....i guess". He told me that they didn't have any PS3's. Which was odd, since they had some boxes with price tags on them.
The second incident was when I went to buy Zack & Wiki and noticed they had 4 game boxes on the shelves. So I grabbed one, took it to the counter and the guy started looking for a disc to put in. So he and the other guy spent about 10 minutes looking for a disc. Until another employee came to the counter and said that they only had 2 discs in the store and that they were probably allready purchased. Which again, confusing, 2 discs - 4 game boxes = -2 games. I went to JB-Hi Fi next door and got it for $20 cheaper.
But other than that I have no problems with them. I still buy Wii Points from them.
