Just don't let Frank Miller anywhere near 'em. They tried that once, didn't work out too well. Actually, I read the FRANK MIILLER'S ROBOCOP comic which was the story he wanted for 2&3, and it was good. Quite good. The movies wouldn't have sucked so bad if they allowed his script to be filmed.

how come nowadays, sequels don't have numbers? seriously, in a few years time when everyone's trying to get DVs of these thigns it'll be impossible, because they're all named the same as the first film.
eh, at least i haven't got anything worse to worry about.

Are you sure that poster is real? It looks fake. Again, it's for a licensing show. They put it together to get people excited and interested in licensing merchandice for it, so it's probably a simple spec poster. It's like that Witchblade teaser poster that has Sara Pezzini on it, even though there has been no casting for the movie whatsoever.

Now, is this a full on remake or a sequel with no number like Rambo or Rocky?

Or "Now Freddy Krueger is Ryan Phillipe Who Is Set On Fire By A Chris Hanson Like Character." "Why don't you have a seat over there?" (points to a dripping wicker chair in the midst of spilt gas cans) When Platinum Dunes (hack ptooie!) announced that they wanted to remake NOES, the first thing I thought was that Krueger was going to be a online predator, and that he'd kill kids via the internet. You know that would be a viable story to those jackasses...as long as there was a way to make the leads get covered in dirt, of course.

That looks like one of those $0.50 DVD's you get in the lowest form of retail store that sells wholesale cleaning products, with films like LASER COPS 9: CRAP GOT SERIOUS

That's actually an amazing idea, having Robocop be Lewis and the partner be Murphy. But I don't know if that would be too much, to have it happening to a woman. We don't necessarily see the excessive violence perpetrated on women in a lot of US films where the women are the victims. In the flashback in Kill Bill vol. 2, we see the Bride get shot in the head, but we don't see how she was massacred, along with her entire wedding party, before that shot. And even then, the shot to the head cuts out immediately after impact, as though the shot were incomplete. But I love, love, love the idea, and I REALLY hope they use it, because remakes should only happen if: 1) Technology in the time of the original did not allow the creator's vision to be adequately realized. 2) The movie is the remake of a little known film that has items deserving modern exploration. 3) The movie being remade is altered (conceptually, schematically, thematically, whatever) enough to separate it from the original experience. 4) The film is being reworked to apply to modern audiences to send a message (for example, if they made "Apocalypse Now" but reset it during the War in Iraq). I don't think Robocop has any business being remade (especially since I doubt they'll be able to capture the satirical tone of the film, like with those awesome commercials that play throughout the movie), but if they go with that idea of yours, I could get really excited about it. But then again, I'm a HUGE Robocop mark, so I'd get excited anyway. But simply on principle, and not because I would expect it to be as good as the original. My Thoughts Exactly TM. And wow.....yeah. Teboobz......Lewis as RoboCop IS a GREAT idea; not too keen on the gang rape part of the post, though. What, are you saying it should be I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE meets IRON MAN? As for your post with Julie Strain as the lead: why her? Were you serious with that? I mean, she's tall and everything.....but don't you want a GOOD actress for the part? Or at least someone ABOVE B-movie level?

I wouldn't mind a relaunch for the series, and would love to have a RoboCop Vs. Terminator movie finally made.

My biggest concern is, how is the satire going to be handled with this? Around the muscular action of Robocop is this eerie reality of an oversaturated, bizarro media where things that could be considered outlandish suddenly become the norm because of a society on the verge of collapse. It almost seems like...well, like today. A show like Moment Of Truth seems almost ripped from an unused part of the script. And in my opinion, I think that modern writers don't have that kind of appreciation of satire. Some do, but what a lot of filmmakers and studios think passes for good satire is the "ScaryNotAnotherTeenEpicMeetTheSuperheroes Movie" mentality. If there's even a possibility of it going in that direction, then it'd be better off if they just let this die, or let it just be a lukewarm action movie.

WOAH. Just read that article, AND another couple. The one on ALL STAR BATMAN and ROBIN just blew me away. I had no idea how HORRID that series was. Also, I agree with Proto entirely on ONE MORE DAY. THAT article was painful to read.

OK this is getting sad and just proves that Hollywood is creatively bankrupt.
Robocop was fine the way it was it doesn't need to be remade.

Well, the comic had flaws, definitely, but I think it would have made for a better film had they not neutered some of these concepts. In the article you linked to, the guy complains about half the stuff that made RoboCop stand out so much (excessive force by the police, the media encroached on every facet of life, OCP being a ridiculously immoral company, and of course, gratuitous violence). But I'm in agreement that this work of Miller's doesn't come anywhere near his level of creativity found in Dark Knight Returns or Daredevil or Wolverine.
