Man, we got a large wildfire going right now here in Eastern NC. It's been going for a while, but I didn't realize it until Thursday when the windshifted and it blew the smoke into my city/area. The last two days have been smoke filled and I hate going outside and breathing that crap. It makes me choke. I can't recall anything like this happening before in this area. I mean this is a major wildfire. They are saying unless some heavy rains come it may burn for a couple more months because of the heat (it's been hitting in the 100's here) and the peat in the soil here burns very easily. Last I heard the firefighters had help coming in from Arizona and Georgia. Here is a couple articles about it. www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,364283,00.html www.witntv.com/home/headlines/19456249.htmlAny other Eastern NC crappers (maybe even lower VA) being affected by this? Satelite image of the Smoke when it was being blown out over the Outer Banks and toward the ocean:

It's been scorching hot for the last week here (hit 100 the last six days easily). They just initiated a burning ban for the entire region. Doing pizza delivery in this has sucked and has affected business negatively.
Plus on Monday when I was working day shift, the air conditioning broke and all the make line products had to be moved to the freexe and pizza's were made there as they would have spoiled quickly. It got fixed Tuesday and it was much cooler in store the next two days.
Where's the freaking rain?

Damn dude this is the first I've even heard of this goin on... shows how much I pay attention to the world outside of 3 feet from me these days. Having had Cali go through that exact issue just last summer I feel your issue here. The air quality issue is a shame as well that crap gets annoying.

Yeah, it was very smoky over here in Northeastern NC a few days ago. It came on all of a sudden then stayed around for two days. What I mean by 'all of a sudden' is this:
I drove my mom to the grocery store about 4-5 miles from my house. Wasn't smoky, no scent, nothin', while we're going there. We're in the store for maybe 15-20 minutes. We come out and we can not see the first row of cars in the parking lot from the store because the smoke is so thick. It was that bad.

Today in Greenville the smoke was so thick you couldn't see very far. Maybe a block or two of visability before it was COMPLETELY clouded. Luckily I was working in Farmville today and while the smoke was thick there, it was still managable. My brother had to deal with it today though.

Haven't heard anything about it, and I'm right outside of Wilmington, NC. You've been very lucky to not get any smoke then. It all depends on the wind.
