God, that gave me chills.
That was honestly one of the best comics I've read over the year, and within the span of the last two years I've read Watchmen, The Killing Joke, The Man Who Laughs, Maximum Carnage (nostalgia's sake), Marvel Zombies, Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere and most of the Sandman series, and so on. All pretty good stuff.
It was very well written and I can honestly say, I did NOT expect the swerve at the end.
I am ridiculously overpumped for The Dark Knight now, moreso than usual.

While I do like it, the problem i have is that there's no actual answer for who the 'real' killers are. You have three options, and if you go over the whole story, you can find answers as to why none of them, or all of them, were the two killers (I think there's even some theory it was only one). What makes it worse is that Jeph Loeb had refused to answer the question, saying its best people come to their own conclusions. Its the same problem that would pop up years later in 'Hush', where we're presented with a mystery in the story, and its never really explained in the story (hi Robin).
Again, I like the story, love the art, but as mystery comics go there are loads better.

The sequel Dark Victory, and the 'in between' story Catwoman: When in Rome are both really good as well.

Didn't enjoy When In Rhome much, though might just be me. But right on about Dark Victory, way excellent stuff there.

It's really hard to beat the Loeb/Sale team when they're together Superman: For All Seasons was great, Spiderman: Blue was good too.
Haven't checked out Daredevil:Yellow or Hulk: Gray yet, but I might have to.

Dark Vicotry was a good read, but When in Rome disappoints. Had some nice Riddler bits, but that and the art are the only saving grace.

Have read Long Halloween and Watchmen twice through in the past month Both are great...but I prefer Watchmen Yeah, but honestly I don't think you'll get alot of argument from many there. There's no real comparison, as Watchmen is pretty much the best superhero graphic ever done. I guess I'm alone in really liking When In Rome. I thought it was fun.
