I'm heading out to Vegas next week and staying at one of the hotels on the strip and I plan on bringing my laptop along. I've never really used any other internet connection for it other then my home one. I just wanted to know if I'll be able to just plug in the net and go or are there changed I have to make to my pc. My room has free high speed internet for sure.

Most hotels will have free high speed internet. Just make sure to ask if there's a log on code required.
You will in all likelihood have to just search for the hotel's connection and connect with that.

I stayed at Circus Circus and they charged 13.99 a night.

ooh, I can help. I work at a hotel, am even here right now!
Anyways, yeah... just ask how that particular hotel does things. Some hotels only have access in the lobby on a heavily filtered for content community computer. Other hotels, better ones like mine, let you use laptops anywhere in the building once logged on. We used to have passwords, but now the system just asks for your first and last name. You could type in Elvis Presley Jr if you wanted, it don't matter.
If you don't have a wireless card, which is rare I think these days, just ask for a wireless bridge. You might have to pay a deposit or sign for it, but if you have a CC on file there shouldn't be a problem!
