A HELL OF A LOT HARDER THAN I REMEMBERED IT BEING.
I downloaded it on Live for the hell of it (I've been through two copies on the PSX, still have one but it's not in the best of shape box wise), and man...I don't remember what kind of gaming steroids I was on back in the day, but I don't see how I ever made it as far as I used to into that game. I honestly think I may have been cheating. But yeah, I'm a lot better at it than I was back then in terms of realizing the enemies patterns and all that, but still, yeesh.
Hopefully I'll have a better sense of direction this time too, seems like I always used to run around in circles.

No, it's tough. (the good kind though) It's one of those games you own though after you've invested way too much time ib it.

I downloaded this on PSN. Awesome game, but hard as hell. I don't know how I managed to beat it. Last time I played, I was playing as Richter. Even harder, but not as much fun without all the RPG elements in Alucard's game.

Strange, I never played the original Playstation version, yet I thought the Live version was ridiculously easy (save for a few awkward areas).

I love this game... I still play my old copy on my PS1. Easily, one of my top 10 games ever, and one of the top 5 for the PS1. With it, I'd consider these the best PS1 games:
Alundra Final Fantasy VIII Metal Gear Solid Klonoa
Oh, and yeah, it is a very difficult game... the upside down portion is all around a beast.

Be anal about healing at the coffin saves and don't fight like a complete dumbass and you should be alright save a few tough portions of the game. Also, I've said it here before, but I mark for the granfaloon.
