www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQT42lUdnIMSo the 2 things that interest me most in the history of the WWE during the Golden Hogan era is that of Hogan having his own cartoon and Sgt. Slaughter in GI Joe Was Slaughter given a push because of his involvement? It seems like he was a pretty big part of GI Joke (Or was he not?) Any info on the subject in general would be cool. It's not like you could see Randy Orton as a character on Ninja turtles today

Slaughter was mainly a cameo in episodes for a long time (and the movie) but i dont think he got a big push out of it, and I'm not so sure if he was even in WWE at the time

Sarge was pretty well finished in the WWF at least in ring when he signed aboard as the living spokesman for G.I. Joe.
He pretty much came aboard for the Movie, and continued on doing intro and outro segements for the cartoon show. He also did some commercials for the toyline.
His appearences in the comic line lasted for awhile, but he pretty much disappeared after a few issues.
He left the Joe line and went back to WWF for his Iraq traitor storyline, and William 'The Fridge' Perry stepped into G.I. Joe...with little fanfare.
Rocky Balboa was to be the next 'Celebrity Joe', but the deal fell through, and while Rocky as a figure never light of day his character profile did make it into the comic book Order of Battle which was a who's who of Joe and Cobra characters, but was deleted from the reprinted trade paperback collecting those books. The story is at the time of printing the deal looked to be done, but fell apart at the last minute, when the Trade came about it was clear Rocky would not be a Joe.
Sarge has not been 'Officially' attached to the Joe product in some time.
He recently came back to the Joecon 06 and they issued a updated version of his figure some of which he signed, and updated versions of Sgt. Slaughters Renegades, along with a vehicle.
At the 07 con Piper joined the bandwagon and a figure was made for him, as part of the Iron Grenadiers line (Destro's personal army.)

I think Slaughter was fired for his involvement...never mind a push.
I believe he got a good deal from GI Joe to make Sgt. Slaughter figures and Vince didn't like him doing his own likeness deals and canned his ass. I believe it's in Bret's book.

It was as vince was deciding to make his own toys or something and he was only giving them 5% of the cut (i think) and didn't like that slaughter was making more

He pretty much came aboard for the Movie, and continued on doing intro and outro segements for the cartoon show. Sarge was done with the WWF in 1984. His first G.I. Joe figure was available as a mail-in starting in 1985, and his first cartoon appearance was the miniseries Arise, Serpentor, Arise in 1986. The movie didn't come out until 1987, and as anyone who has ever seen it will tell you, Sarge was fantastic in it. "At ease, disease." The Fridge was a mail-in first available in 1986, several years before Sarge became an Iraqi sympathizer. I still treasure my copy of Order of Battle #2. The inclusion of Rocky confused me and my friends for years.
