nah, i like it the way it is. it's a good show starter for wrestlemania, gets the crowd warmed up with all the big spots. plus, hell in a cell is kind of a major thing. and having the MITB match in there would either involve midcarders and take away from the "last resort" feel of the cell, or would be full of main eventers which takes away from the "glass cieling" thing that MITB has going on.

I know what you mean, i just think its a bit lazy to have teh same type of match over and over and over. Don't get me wrong they are always great matches but i dunno....4 years running, same match, at least they could make it TLC

I like a consistant match that(if won) pushes a guy up to the top...even if it is only for a little while...

Royal Rumble is different though.. thats like saying you should have a payper view called Money in the Bank and have that as the main event, wouldn't fly.

So your view on the match is different entirely based on the name of the show its on?
I like mainstay matches... I look forward to the royal rumble as much as the money in the bank match. Cause i know months prior to the event that the match is going to be good.

What they should do, is have it so that there are 4 briefcases and 3 of them have title shot opportunities but the last one is a pink slip. Also they don't tell use the rules of cashing in the title shots and then do a Deal or no Deal style thing that screws over...i dunno Lashley or something
...oh wait.

Nobody ever bought a royal rumble to see the matches at the start, people watch the rumble because of the rumble. People will never buy Mania just for the MITB (well some but you get my point).

You're making the Royal Rumble sound like War Games there - that was "The Match Beyond".

i'd rather it be a KOTR style tournament.
get rid of one the superfluous PPVs and put MITB Tourny in it's place.

S***, that's right. That's what I meant, the street fight. All this talk of HiaC got me confused. Thanks for setting me straight.

Royal Rumble is always a great PPV and I can see the comparison. The winner of either match gets a shot at any title they wish.
Its almost better to win MITB rather than the Rumble as you have the freedom to either main event at WM that night or over-ride next year's winner by selecting next year's WrestleMania as your spot to challenge the champion..or pretty much choose whenever you want to challenge the champion.
..but I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.
Also, I think the match is great as it is. I do think they should scale it back down to 6, I find 8 is just too many people.

what no one has mentioned yet is that Money in the Bank serves a whole lot of purposes that, instead of taking up three pay per view segments or four weeks of TV, are condensed into one match. Here we go.
1) Since Wrestlemania is the theoretical climax of the previous year, a lot of storylines are coming to a close here. Thus, Money in the Bank can establish a future challenger for the top guy and create feuds among the participants.
2) Related to Wrestlemania as culmination of the past year, the card is necessarily filled with blowoff matches and title matches. Since the card is filled, Money in the Bank allows six wrestlers, who otherwise would be competing for the final spot on the show, to be booked into one segment.
3) The MitB also lets midcarders or erstwhile main event wrestlers stake claim to a higher spot on the card by impressing the fans in a memorable match.
4) Without MitB, there would have to be Dusty finishes more often on the Biggest Stage so that Raw the following night is not 100% storyline creation and advancement.
5) With three brands, there are two-and-a-half times the storylines as another promotion might have. You need something that goes beyond storylines so that the fans don't get confused about why guys are fighting. It isn't about who's sleeping with who, or who feels someone else slighted him.
Storyline fatigue affects us all. It is responsible for thousands of cases of confusion, thrown remote syndrome, and blind Triple H hatred every year. Please contribute to the Money in the Bank Ladder Match fund today to help stop Triple H from keeping the midcarders down.
