In terms of mainstream popularity? Thats pretty bad considering how long shawn and trips have been jammed down our throats for years and have been established as they have. Ive talked to those who dont follow wrestling and they know who john cena is but still have no clue who shawn or triple h are.

It's possible. Cena has had an album and a movie so he'd be better known to non-wrestling fans, much like Rock and Austin.
*EDIT: Also, his feud with K-Fed was featured on things like Entertainment Tonight.

I don't know. I know a bunch of people who don't know who the hell John Cena is.
They just look at you like you're a nut when you mention what he does.

John Cena being on a Subway commercial might give him more name recognition than HHH or HBK.
Wasn't he also on some awards show with Hulk Hogan?

Around here he may be "well known" by (former) wrestling fans from the last boom period [2003-06].
Some may have watched the "Bad Man" videoclip on MTV, but I doubt many even knew he's a wrestler.
On the other hand, the only wrestler who may ring a bell are Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant. All the others are for wrestling fans only.

i would say yes. quite a few people i know who dont watch wrestling know who is is, via his film and tv appearances. i would say that triple h and shawn michaels are practically no bodies in the non wrestling world. hulk hogan and the rock, well everybody knows who they are. andre the giant i think has largly been forgotten, the old timers may know who he is but i dont think the younger folk would know.

I know that a few non fans know about HHH because he has done stuff outside of Wrestling. Shawn basically is unknown to anyone that hasn't watched.

Shawn's been around since the late 80s. The name "Heartbreak Kid" would at least ring a bell. I mean, granted, he's no Macho Man, but still.
Andre's memory lives on in the Princess Bride.

Yes. That's all. And no, most, meaning all people who aren't non-wrestling fans, don't know about HBK.

No, I don't think so. Maybe more so than HBK, but there are still a LOT of people who don't know who he is.
Just the other day I was playing Day of Reckoning with some folks in my dorm room, who are not fans of wrestling at all. They seemed to be familiar with Rock, Austin, Undertaker, HHH and Hogan. But called the guy in question "John Chinna". So, there ya go.

I agree that Austin is more famous for dealing with Tyson. I'm sure most non fans forgot HBK was there if they even remember the situation at all. It was 10 years ago and to a non fan its pretty forgettable. They are not like us who followed and remember all the little details.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was. His face has been on a lot of TV over the past 2-3 years and he has his own movie and music CD and is pretty popular.
Only those who follow wrestling closely would know who HBK and Triple-H were.
