Think of Sonic the Hedgehog running 1000 MPH across the screen with the special shoes, then he collides into a Robot and rings are flying everywhere.
That's what it felt like.

Not at all, made him look like a strong contender, and Orton hit his finisher out of nowhere to score the win
both guys looked great after that match, plus Jeff is still IC champ.

it makes me laugh that people are mad that orton won cleanly.
He's the world champ, from time to time the champ needs a clean victory

Definitely. The match itself was fine, but it never captured the special feeling the build to the match had. The clean win told me they aren't doing a rematch, then Cena's return in my eyes gave Hardy a nice shove off the stage he had just pulled himself on to over the past month. I don't see Hardy getting a rematch for the belt any time soon, I really don't. QFT. This is exactly how I feel about it. Losing so decisively and cleanly took away a lot of the momentum that Hardy built up over the past couple of months. Cena's return took away whatever was left. Hardy will be sent back down to the mid card as they focus on Cena/Orton leading into WM24. I don't see him climbing back up any time soon.

Eh, he'll be RVD'd & Jericho'd I'm guessing. He may get a short world title run in the future but he'll have numerous IC Title runs.

People have been complaining about how "weak" Orton has looked since he won the belt, and now that he has a clean win to make him look stronger, people are still pissed.

Nope.
As long as they keep the spotlight on him, who cares if he lost?

Yes, yes it has. Jeff's back to where he was before Survivor Series. That's true. I'd bet everything I own that the IWC won't breathe a word of HHH's clean job to Hardy after SS again. In fact, I bet people complain that HHH buried him. Like they aren't already?

Undertaker, Rey Mysterio, and Batista..
He'd pretty much STILL be the 4th biggest face..well 5th or 6th depending on how you view kane and cm punk
or what brand Ric flair is on

How in the world can anyone say yes to this?
Seriously, I question if people even watch (not referring to the comments, which mostly seem to be no. Most of the yes's haven't said why except one).
Orton is the cunning, sly, systematic heel. Hardy is the risk taker that throws caution to the wind. Hardy hit all his big moves except two: the Twist of Fate and the Swanton. Orton avoided the swanton and caught Hardy with one mistake and nailed the RKO out of nowhere, which is the beauty of it. Orton looks like he barely survived by catching one break. Hardy still looks like he can compete, he just needs to be ready for anything.
Hurting him would have been Orton decisively winning. Orton didn't decisively win. He did win clean, but did it in a way that leaves open the possibility that, in a rematch, Hardy could beat Orton since he knows to look out for the RKO.
People bitch that WWE doesn't have psychology and storytelling, but when they do they crap on it because it wasn't spoonfed to them and they have to think about it.

It wasn't just the match, it was the return of John Cena when I factor in whether Hardy's position has been hurt. He looked good in the match with Orton, but the fact of the matter is that Hardy's now left exactly where he was in October with little to show for it. A move to SD! needs to happen as soon as the next draft happens.

But as someone pointed out, he's still a second tier face on SD. He also wasn't winning the belt last night even if Cena didn't return. The only thing that would have changed is HHH winning the Rumble instead. Therefore the only thing that could have hurt him was the booking in the match
I don't think they'll bury him on Raw. He'll get his opportunities down the road if he keeps raising his game like he has. He'll get there. He's proven he can handle a major PPV title match. Just give it time. It didn't boost him, but the RR didn't hurt him either.

Sorry but I consider a victory where he gets his first clean win in ages (cause he couldn't beat anybody else clean) shows that either
A) Jeff isn't up to his level (the Edge-CMPunk defense)
or
B) They were attempting to get somebody to give a damn about Randy Orton, who's reign has sucked more than a black hole (most of it his own boring fault)
I don't think it completely ruined Jeff's push, but there was some damage done.

Didn't Orton beat Shawn clean at the Survivor Series?
