My condolences and prayers to you and your family.
It's great to see so much positive energy devoted to such a positive human being. I met John several times when I worked in the same building that he had his wrestling school in Central Florida. He often allowed myself and a co-worker to watch his training sessions. For his size, he was the most approachable person I've ever met. From the few fortunate conversations in person and listening to John speak to others and hearing what others had to say about John left me with the picture of a man who put his family first because he wanted to, because he loved them and because they were the greatest source of joy in his life. In all ways, a king among men.

Your Father was a very brave man. He always went out there every week and gave it 110%. Everyone who watched wrestling loved your dad. He will be missed very much by everyone.
God Bless You Quake

Big John was a fun guy to know, 6’6” approx 360+ lb while in college at LSU. He was a heavy weight wrestler from BC Canada and a gentle giant of a man. John usually didn't go back to Canada for holidays during the semester. My brothers Pete & Skip brought him home for Thanksgiving, and my Mom who was nicknamed "the Badger" had to put on another Turkey! He was the only person that ever stared down our dog, Doubleday… who was as fierce a German Shepherd as they come.
All of us who knew John in college will miss him very much.

I can count the number of times I've been shocked in wrestling on my hand. Don't get me wrong, I love the mix of athleticism and performance art that is professional wrestling, but most things never shocked me too much.
Probably the most shocking moment watching wrestling as a kid is when John Tenta debuted, and proceeded to crush the Ultimate Warrior in a situp contest. Mostly because at first I really thought he was just some guy in the audience. He played that part to perfection. The fact it shocked me and I remember it to this day is probably one of the better compliments I can ever give a wrestler, because I forgot much of the stuff I saw in the 80's.
It's a shame he's passed away. Everything I've read about him is that he was just a solid, solid man.
