im having a bit of a dilemma, I want a good wrestling game for Xbox 360. I loved smackdown vs raw 06 for PS2 but its quite out of date and ive passed my ps2 onto a friend. I noticed in Game that SDvR 07 is only £9.99 for xbox 360. where as its like £29.99 for the 2008 version. I dont know whyt because its on sale for every other console for £14.99. is it worth forking out the extra £20??

Not quite sure about the 360, but the 07 game was plagued by tons of bugs who made the gameplay difficult. 08 I've played for 10 minutes, so I can't judge it.
I'd go for the 08 one anyway as it'll probably "use" the hardware better [ie. not a port from the PS2/whatever version]

As a whole I enjoyed '08 a lot more.

Gameplay-wise '08 is somewhat better if you ignore the fact that THQ removed manual targeting for some reason.
The 24/7 mode, however, is probably the worst story mode ever seen in a wrestling game.

08 version for the 360 gives you the option to use custom tracks for your wrestlers' enterances.

08 is a lot buggier than 07. Not to say 07 isn't a Windows 95 itself. Supposedly THQ needed more time to fully remove Benoit and would've had to push the game release out past Christmas. McMahon didn't want to give up the Christmas sales, but kept adamant about removing Benoit. So they had to prioritize that over doing other things that really, really needed to be done. Some parts make you wonder if there was any beta testing at all. Like there's a Classic WCW Championship, and Classic WWE Attitude Championship. By default, Ric Flair has the Attitude title and Steve Austin has the WCW belt. How could that slip past any decent beta testing team? Or the Legend Killer... Edge? Storyline mode is AWFUL. It's buggy as all hell, it's repeditive and just plain garbage. GM mode is almost the same with a few minor (but not very positive) changes. Roster is bleh, and the movesets are not only further reduced but you're restricted to moves allowed by both your weight class and fighting style. So your choice of moves is just pathetic. Which you might not notice at first since you have less places to put moves on top of it.
This isn't to say it's all bad. 08 is the king of hardcore combat, and if you like that style then you'll love 08. There's many new weapons, from keno sticks to guitars, and you can even light tables or barbed wire two by fours on fire. There is also a new submission system. It's called 'struggle submission.' Some people love it, some people hate it. The biggest downside to it is that non-SS moves can't make anyone tap out. So although they FINALLY added a grapevine anklelock, you can never make anyone tap with it. Also, the aforementioned "fighting styles" make things more interesting. Everyone gets to pick 2 styles, a primary and a secondary. You get little bonus abilities from each (for instance, a technical wizard like Bret Hart will automatically reverse stronger grapple moves until one of their limbs is yellow) as well as an actived ability that gives you a huge bonus for about 30 seconds (for instance, brawlers like Undertaker can use 'Wreck Shop' which makes them automatically reverse strikes and makes their own strikes irreversable until it wears off).
Overall, I'd say if you really love hardcore fights or really want the newest updates, grab 08. If not, save some money and get 07. 08 has as many steps backwards as it does steps forwards.

stil very confused is gm mode good in 07? No. GM mode is crap in all versions. And pretty much the same thing in all versions. Sadly, they never improved much upon the original (when did it debut? 06?). Shame, since playing as the GM could be a lot of fun if they spent more time on that mode.

Really? Wow. I think you may be the first person I've talked to that liked the way GM mode worked. Most people hated the way feuds required doing the same matches every week, or how matches were rated solely on the wrestler's popularity. Anyway... 07
It had it's problems but it's still way better than 08, 08 is a disaster.
The only good thing in 08 is Extreme rules match

We have a Cash Generator near us, and they were selling all PS2 games off for £2.50 a throw, and I picked up 2007 for less than it would have cost to rent. That said I don't find it anywhere near as fun as Here Comes The Pain. And you're talking about the x-box versions, so I'll get me coat.

HCTP is the series high point, no other Smackdown game comes close

In 2007 you have to deal with the monstrous overselling. Once you get a body part red you aref***ed. A punch can beat you.
