It's hard to say things are going too badly for Morrison right now, since he's half of a tag team championship pairing and even those who doubted or outright hated him and his partner The Miz in the past are getting converted, as evidenced by the thread farther down the page.
However (and I say this as a Morrison fan), he never got really over during his run as ECW champ. (Though in fairness, the ECW crowds seem[ed] infuriatingly incapable of popping for anybody besides CM Punk, however worthy other performers were of appreciation.) And the fact is that after all this time has passed since MNM, Morrison is back in a tag title picture instead of contending for even a midcard singles belt.
Now, I'm not saying Morrison's career is doomed by any means (see the opening paragraph). He could (and in my opinion will) be more successful as a singles star in the future. But if we're being totally honest and objective, do we have to judge his singles push a failure for the time being?

I'm going to say no because he's using the tag team to further develop his new persona, he didn't just go back to being the same tag team worker he was before.

I think he has done very well and he will get a singles push again. Once he drops the tag titles he will get back into title contention. Maybe during the draft lottery Shawn Michaels gets drafted to Smackdown and we see a Morrison/Michaels feud and HBK puts Morrison over at SummerSlam. That would be awesome.

It was too soon, especially when they just changed the gimmick out of nowhere while he held the belt. Now I think he could be better off with a bit more buildup.

I think Morrison was over, but I also think that what they're doing here is they're hoping Morrison AND Miz both get over by association. Build them up together, eventually split them and let them go their separate ways, and you've got two good talents.

I always thought that Mercury was the more entertaining of the two, pity about his issues.

We all thought the same thing about JBL at first. Give him a little more time, he's still better off then most midcarders, and doesn't have that half of MNM feel to him anymore.

Morrison will main event sooner or later...thing is, hopefully, they're doing it slowly instead of forcing him on us.
He needs to earn his spot and to me, hes doing that.

Actually the worst thing that happened to Morrison was Lagana getting fired, he was a huge mark for Morrison.

Well he never really got any chance to get into ECW, relax and start getting over with the ECW crowd. Thanks to Pro Wrestler X he got the ECW title WAY TO EARLY

Don't get me wrong Morrison is probably one of my top 5 favorites today, but JBL actually had a feud and was "JBL" when he got the belt. Morrison was coming off of being a jobber to the stars on Raw and won the belt as a last minute replacement.

Instead of having those months where she didn't do anything after losing the belt, she could've been used to help him get more over and lead him to a title win, only for him to go solo, fake a face turn and then go heel. Granted, she didn't make him the most over guy on the roster by any means, but every little bit helps, you know?

I think he was pretty over, I just think once he lost the title, they couldn't have him feud with CM Punk forever. There was no where else to go on the brand. They basically moved the WWE tag team title to ECW for him to have though, so I think their confidence in him is still high. I do agree that he should have a broad with him though. It doesn't have to be Melina, just some hot chick to further his "better than all of you" persona. I wouldn't call it a failure. More like a work that's still in progress.

It was way too soon for him to be pushed that hard. He was a lower card guy on Raw teaming with his BFF, Kenny Dykstra. But I think this team with Miz is going to help him out.
Plus, I've noticed that the Smackdown/ECW tag team division is starting to pick up, with Miz/Morrison, Moore Wang, the Rated Rmey, Deuce n' Domino, Jesse and Festus and Dreamer and Delaney.

personally, i always felt heels, especially super-ego type heels, work better in groups. morrison on his own saying how great he is comes off as a loser. morrison and miz doing the 'better than you' routine together is much better.

I didn't really care for him as the ECW champ because he was bought in ECW in a supplemental draft, wasn't worthy of being switched live on TV. I also didn't like the fact that he was given the title because Chris Benoit went nuts.
