this is a week old and threads have probs been made but what did everyone think of it? it made me think of classic WWF hardcore matches, but thought chavo oversold the GTS when he lept backward inot the river. so many superstars have been thrown into a nearby river over the years so why not make a match out of it

thought it was a geat match, and yes ..... slight overreaction to the GTS and OOPS just fell into the cesspool

I thought it was ok. But I wonder why commentary completely stopped about halfway through?

It was pretty entertaining but it should have been done with someone other than CM Punk and Chavo Guerrero.

Flair/Steamboat and Angle/Benoit would've had awesome Gulf of Mexico matches.

Flair/Steamboat and Angle/Benoit would've had awesome Gulf of Mexico matches. I bet they would have. Knowing Benoit and Angle, you'd probably see an Olympic slam or a release German Suplex off the ledge and into the Water.

I thought it was very good, it reminded me of the St. Valentine's Day Massacre Hardcore Title Match between Al Snow and Hardcore Holly. Pretty much ended in the Mississippi River for probably the same reason as this one being a Gulf of Mexico match in that
A) It was something different and kinda unused B) The body of water was RIGHT THERE.

Honestly, the thought of a GTS into the Gulf of Mexico, especially how overblown the selling was, breaks the match. I'm sure there were other moves in Punk's arsenal that he could've used that would've made people buy that match a lot more.

I thought the GTS worked because it looked like Chavo blocked it, but was still knocked off balance and fell backwards (Yes, I know he jumped, but I've been in situations where people start to fall try and jump and just make things worse for themself)

Honestly, it reminded me of the Eddie/Cena parking lot brawl, in which it took place in an unfamiliar environment, had lots of unique spots, and it got both men over.
I'm hoping it does the same for Punk and Chavo as the parking lot match did for Eddie and Cena.
