I like how he did commentary for the Showdown: Legends of Wrestling video game and yet he wasn't on the game's line up of playable characters.

Now that I'm old, gray, and feeble, I understand why Larry called himself "Living Legend." But back in my days of being a youthful mark, I had no clue why this doofus was calling himself that. The only time I ever saw him in the ring was in a horrible match against Bischoff. I never heard of Bruno Sammartino and had never seen any matches with him in full, so any victory Larry had over him meant nothing to me. In other words, if it wasn't a victory over Hogan, Flair, Micheals, Hart, Warrior, Savage, or Piper, you couldn't call yourself "legend." Now I understand that he's a legend from a completely different time frame, and has as much right to call himself that as Shawn does calling himself "The Heartbreak Kid."
Ok ok ok...actually I didn't think he should have called himself a legend was because I'd confuse "Zbyszko" the wrestler with "Labyszko" the cracker and wafe company.

a nickname doesn't have to be true, especially a heel one. haas and benjamin weren't really the world's greatest tag team, nor is JBL a wrestling.... GAWD!

When I first saw this thread, for a moment I thought you were talking about Larry Sweeney, and I was about to argue like hell over it.

He first called himself "The Living Legend" because he was feuding with Bruno Sammartino, who had the same nickname. It was done to get the fans angry at him for doing so. Then, he continued to use it throughout his career to get the fans to boo because he said he was a "Living Legend" yet was known to go outside the ring and stall during matches, not something a legend would do. It was a nickname used to get people to boo him. It didn't necessisarily mean he was a legend (that's really a matter of opinion); it was just a nickname used for heel heat. That's all!

Well, where do you think Randy Orton came up with the idea of being a "legend killer"?
Larry Z, that's who.
A heel who's so absorbed with himself, he thinks he's the best - even though we know he's not. That's a great gimmick.

Told by poppa who was with Larry in 1987 in the AWA. The two degrees of Larry Zbyszko.

I love how he won the battle royal to become the AWA champion by staying in the corner 90% of the match ;D He did have a good point though in his strategy though.
