Who has had the biggest push from one year to the next, not counting not being a rookie the first year and then being in his first Wrestlemania the next.
I.E. Chris Benoit being in a Triple Threat Tag Match to being in the World Title Match the next year --- or Batista being in a 3-on-2 match with Rock and Foley to the title match the next year.

Edge and Orton from last year to this year would have to be pretty huge jumps. Both in World title matches this year after opening the show last year. They should've had their own singles match last year though.
How about Lashley from 22 to 23? He went from making up the numbers in MitB to being the hardest pushed guy on the show.
Also, Taker was in a pointless handicap match at 19 and had one of the highest profile matches at 20.

The best example I can think of is Cena in the opener at WM20, to being in a WWE title match at 21.

JBL's from 20 to 21 is pretty remarkable; Goes from meaningless fatal four way to defending the WWE Championship.

Stone Cold Steve Austin. Wrestling Savio Vega in a match that is mostly remembered for live look ins at Roddy Piper's Ford Bronco at WM 12 to wrestling Bret Hart in a match that changed the WWF forever in WM 13

Stone Cold Steve Austin. Wrestling Savio Vega in a match that is mostly remembered for live look ins at Roddy Piper's Ford Bronco at WM 12 to wrestling Bret Hart in a match that changed the WWF forever in WM 13 If even remembered at all. JBL as pointed out earlier is probably the greatest jump outside Austin. He went from a meaningless match that could have not even been included to defending the WWE title the next year. While Austin went from meaningless match with a lame gimmick to what some regard as the best WrestleMania match ever.

I think it has to be Diesel as he went to not even being an active wrestler at WrestleMania X to WWF Champion at XI.

We could go the other way too.
Bundy - from main event to midgets.

We could go the other way too. Bundy - from main event to midgets. Or Lashley from super-mega-push to "we've never had a Lashley working here, you're mad".

We could go the other way too. Bundy - from main event to midgets. Sgt. Slaughter from Title match to 8 man tag involving the Nasty Boys, Virgil, and Repo Man.

Rey Mysterio was the curtain-jerker at WrestleMania 21, then won the World Title at 22.

Yokozuna wasn't even in the company for Wrestlemania 8, won the World title at 9.
