Heres an idea i just had. With MMA being the new craze all over the sports world, here an idea for a gimmic for a wrestler. This guy would be claiming to be a MMA fighter and he's come to the WWE to show that MMA is far superior to wrestling. So throughout his promos hed be dissing the fans telling them how stupid they are to like the WWE's inferior product and atheletes. His moveset would be based on MMA strikes and grapples, not any standard wrestling moves but to add some heel flavor, when he actually got into matches where he'd be actually start to get beaten, hed resort to using dirty wresltling tactics- eye rakes groin shots etc. What do u think? and please lemme know if this particular gimmick or one like it has been done.

Sylvester Turkay already tried it.
Ken Shamrock already tried.
Vladmir Kozlov was going to try it...
You get the picture.

Only guy it ever really worked for was Shamrock, but didn't just use MMA moves, he incorporated pro wrestling style moves into his moveset

Santino Marella's OVW gimmick was just that.

Sylvester Turkay already tried it. Ken Shamrock already tried. Vladmir Kozlov was going to try it... You get the picture. it kind of worked for Shamrock. For something like that to work you need someone who has a lot of charisma, and Shamrock circa 97-98 was a believable crazy mofo

Dan "the Beast" Severin also had a brief career in pro wrestling.

Legit fighters do not go down well in the WWE.
See Mayweather, Floyd. also Severn, Dan.

but did any of the insult the fans and the general wwe product and promote the MMa style?? Kozlov started to in his last couple of interviews and then everybody told Vince they were wasting their time with him.

but did any of the insult the fans and the general wwe product and promote the MMa style?? That very storyline was used in WCW and it sucked so much that it was later inducted into Wrestlecrap. My memory isn't too clear on this, so if anyone can fill in the blanks, please do. From what I remember, Tank Abbot was being challenged by some friend of his from MMA who was criticizing Abbot for joining WCW. This guy was a nobody too. I had never heard of him in MMA, so I don't why they even brought him in to challenge Abbot. The weird part was that WCW was being dissed as being fake as opposed to real fighting in MMA. By comparing MMA to pro wrestling as reality vs. fantasy was a confusing storyline. Does anyone remember this?
