I am not sure, but the one announce team that had the best of each field, play by play and color commentator.
Clash Of Champions 26 for a couple of matches argueably the greatest play by play man Gorden Solie and argueably the greatest commentator of all time Bobby Hennan were a team. Though they had terrible chemistry. Gorden is from the old school wrestling era, Hennan from the sports entertainment era. Gorden didn't realise, he is suppose to be mad at Hennan's jokes, he actully laughed a few times.
Just thought I mention that, because that was statistic the best individual team.
I want to say Gorilla and Hennan, they were fun to watch, but Gorilla was not a great play by play man.

I can't believe these are all WWF announce teams. WCW did have some darn good ones too. Here are my favorites:
wwf 1. Gorilla/Bobby 1. Gorilla/Jesse-These 2 tie as they were so awesome and fun to listen to. 3. JR/King-The best during attitude period. Still an awesome team 4. JR/Cornette-A good team that announced Raw's and was good to listen to. 5. Cole/JBL-Just funny stuff all the time.
WCW 1. JR/Jesse-The most underrated and no one ever and i mean ever talks about them. Partly it has to with them announing during the dark period in wrestling. An excellent team whom people should listen if ever getting an announing job in wrestling. 2. JR/Funk or JR/Heyman-Never really announced very many ppv's but were awesome. Funk is very underrated on color. 3. Tony S./Jesse-Jesse always outwitted Tony so much and it was so fun to listen to. 4. Tony S./Bobby-This was a very good tandum, Bobby was so funny. 5. Mike Tenay/Bobby-Fun to listen to during dying days of WCW
Overall 1. Gorilla/Bobby Gorilla/Jesse 2. JR/Jesse 3. JR/ King

For pure entertainment, Gorilla/Bobby, and Gorilla/Ventura.
For a great WRESTLING broadcast, Jim Ross/Gordon Solie.
As a side note, I'm sure I saw that Clash, but bad chemistry or no, I NEED to hear Heenan and Solie call the action.

It was fun to watch, it is the old school and new school of wrestling broadcasting together. Gorden as we all know never lost his cool or his temper on camera, that was his style for years. Heenan tried to antagonise him with his jokes, Gorden wouldn't take issue with his jokes, even laughed at few of them. You can tell Heenan was frustrated. He use to his broadcast partners especially Gorilla take issues with his jokes. One of Gorilla famous lines at Heenan is "Would you stop." Heenan was dumbfounded at Gorden's reactions.

This is why I've never been a great fan of Heenan as an announcer. He was great with Monsoon, but with others he fell flat with the jokes. Jesse, however, was great with Monsoon AND made McMahon tolerable to listen to. Monsoon and Ventura gets my vote.

I always thought Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby heenan were the best. Bobby Heenan was the mold for all heel commentators and could make you want to cheer the babyface on to win just so Heenan would look like a jackass. Jerry Lawler had that in the beginning too but then went on to become basically a pathetic caricature of himself with his constant puppies puppies chants. He went from being a serious heel commentator to sounding like a 13 year old who just found Dad's old stash of pornos in the attic.

Here's one that's not been mentioned, but that I personally loved. Jim Ross and Les Thatcher calling SMW matches.

No love for Michael Cole and the coach? Sure there is. I'd love for them to be given non-working mics.

No love for Michael Cole and the coach? Let's add in Tenay and West at the same time. Or that crew from the LEgends of Wrestling PPV with the Jake botches!
