I think he meant heavyweight titles. Back then, those belts where actually defended within their boundaries.

Well I was also thinking about the introduction of the European title. No one ever called it the WWF European World title. I am just being nitpicky I guess.
Also, I disagree with your comment on the elite 8. Nobody in WWECW will ever be on the same level or tier as Cena. I don't even think there are that many people in the entire company who are, as far as they are concerned.

The ECW title now at least, is the Television Title the WWE never had/always wanted[?].

The system worked because there was an actual heirarcy that the NWA and the WWWF/early-WWF had which involved ranking. Nowadays, the company abitrarly gives out belts to whomever despite whether we feel they in the card status. In a semi-unrelated opinion, I liked it when Bret Hart put over El Dandy, a cruiserweight, because Mean Gene didn't take him seriously due to what Mean thought who were the "top gun."

I will give that, but Cena's match with Morrison help establish Morrison more than a mid-carder with a major belt at the time imo.

Everything's calm on this front, I'm just saying how I don't see much of a Chavo lovefest now or when he won the belt, just several posters who do call him a world champ and all. I'm not sure that I would and many wouldn't either. Okay. Speaking. Of. Which. Am. I. The. Only. One. Who. Likes. Chavo's. Run? It's nothing great but I'm sure it could be much worse. I like Chavo so I don't really mind it and I was one of the ones who marked when he won. I'll be suprised if he holds it past Mania though. There was more of a "love fest" on here for punk when he won it. I really don't remember too much Chavo love.

Maybe it's the "Not Yet Good Enough for SmackDown!" title?
But seriously, calling the ECW title a world title is like calling ECW a brand (when it's really just an extra hour of SmackDown!).

3rd most important title in WWE. Pretty much, and sometimes not even 3rd most important. Probably 4th or 5th.

What is the ECW Title?
It's the main title on ECW. Did you really expect more?

The Ecw title is the last reminder of what vince oringaly bought, currently i call it the OVW championship, its real purpose should be to give new talent an opportunity to hold gold to see how they fare before giving them a more worthy strap.

Every prime time wrestling show needs to have a title, ECW gets the ECW Championship which really isn't much of a world title anymore. Think of it more as a TV Title.

I don't believe it should be a weight class or 'style' title. I'm just stating it isn't. If the brand switching for the champion is true, then why is Chavo still a SmackDown wrestler? The best wrestler on ECW is apparently not an ECW wrestler. WWE have phased out the term ECW World Championship. The implication is fairly clear. No the implication is that they realize Chavo sucks a mountain of ass the size of Big Daddy V as a champion, and thus job him out more than Rey Mysterio and have him hang out with Edge on occasion, somehow making himself look like a bigger hanger on out of desperation than the two guys who dress like Edge. Chavo hasn't been jobbed out.
