The bigger problem is most of the monsters have lost so often they don't have the unstoppable aura around them. At the moment if you put these guys in a ring with a Cena, HHH or Orton I'd only think that Batista and Undertaker have a chance of winning. Big Show, Khali, Umaga and Kane are still credible in most situations, the fact they've remained over despite their constant losses is a minor miracle and just proves what good wrestlers they are. The others are just large jobbers. I think alot of it is also fans want more from their heels these days. The USA hawwwwk `tooeys and nasty filthy stinky giants as Hulk Hogan called Big Show of the Rock n' Wrestlin' Era just ain't gonna cut it with today's fan. Today's fan wants something they can relate to their experiences like egomanical assholes like MVP or guys who steal girlfriends like Edge now unless the Egomanical douchebag who steals people's girlfriends is an 8 foot tall monster who speaks in monosyllabic grunts it's highly unlikely they'll have much in common with most fans experiences.

Sounds like a name for a Godzilla sitcom. "What happens when Godzilla, King of the Monsters, gets kicked off of Monster Island and has to share an apartment...WITH HIS THREE BIGGEST ARCH-ENEMIES!" "This fall, watch as GODZILLA..." Godzilla: I'm living in an apartment with three monsters I can't stand. I feel like Jerry Seinfeld. "MOTHRA..." Mothra: SCREEEEE!! Godzilla, you didn't do the dishes again! Godzilla: *thermonuclear blast* There! Now they're done! Done and gone forever! "RODAN..." Rodan: Hey Zilla, I'm going to town. You need anything? Godzilla: Yeah, I need you to flatten that section of Kyoto that I missed on my last run. "KING GHIDORAH..." Ghidorah: Hey baby, I may have three heads, but I only need one head to satisfy you! "And that wacky neighbor MECHGODZILLA..." *knock knock* Godzilla: Who is it? Mechagodzilla: IT IS THE POSTMAN. OPEN THE DOOR.Godzilla: *opens door* Mechagodzilla: *thermonuclear blast* Godzilla: *closes door* Well, the neighbors sure are nice. "...make you laugh so hard, you just might shoot out a blast of thermonuclear breath!" "This fall, get ready for...TOO MANY MONSTERS!" On ABC. Oh... My... God. Pefection. Sheer and utter perfection. Agreed

I consider monsters as guys who are big, powerful and are considered to be dangerous given their size. That's why I can argue for JBL. He's treated like a monster. And monster/giant are interchangable. If they are feared for their size, they are a monster. By your definition, there could probably be a few more in your list then. I'm sure Finlay is considered dangerous for his size. Hell, Rey Mysterio probably is too, given that the only other person of his size is like, Colin Delaney. They may be considered dangerous, but the main thing that makes a monster for me is what they do with the character, in-ring or out. A monster will sell less, talk much less and tend to no-sell normal moves from normal performers quite a bit more than other performers. Smaller guys can be monsters, but I don't think JBL, or even Batista, qualify. Bam Neely is more enforcer than monster. They both attempt to overpower more than others, but enforcers will sell more than monsters. JBL and Batista were both enforcers at times, they just became single performers (like Tomko). For guys like Mike Knox, I think that's debatable, because I don't think he's been back long enough to really prove his style, which could be either or. The others on the list are definitely monster characters, and I agree that it's way too many to be effective, especially when they all lose 8 out of 10 matches once they've reached the 6 month mark. I still don't think you get my definition of a monster. If the announcers hype them like there is no way ANYONE they go against can beat them (OMG, how can Stevie/Colin/Tommy/Punk beat this HELLACIOUS BRUTE Neely/JBL/Knox/etc then they are a monster. If they are put over as something extra-ordinary because of their size (not their opponents) then they are a monster. I don't get your logic with Mysterio at all. I'm not talking about the biggest in their "class", I mean in general. If they are "feared" because they are HUGE and hyped up as such (which maybe isn't done with JBL as much, I'll admit, but that's why he's in the stretch category) then they are by all means a monster character. And there are 12-15 of them on the roster. This is HORRIBLE because it diminishes the rarity of going over a monster. If Kennedy/Hardy/Punk go over Umaga/V/Khali respectively, it doesn't really mean anything, because there are so many giants/monsters that the push you get from beating one isn't as special as it should be.

I think many older fans want that. I think many newer fans want the old giants. But it's still way too many.

I think the key point was how much they sell. Umaga, Henry, Khali etc aren't going to sell as much as 'human' wrestlers. That's why I don't think JBL's a monster. I also wouldn't consider Taker or Kane monsters simply because a monster would never really be a main event face that could have a title run. Taker and Kane go beyond being monsters, even though they don't sell much, and in Taker's case especially (although that's absolutely right of him to do so). Basically, fans relate to Taker and Kane so much more than they would any other monster, and The BOD are usually put in long running storylines, where a monster will be just 'there' to eventually put over other talent.

Yeah not sure where JBL fits in there. Is Lance Cade a monster then too? JBL, despite the way he talks in interviews, is far more thuggish than Cade and that's key part of a monster for me. Even though he's completely changed in personality JBL's in ring actions are basically just a downgraded monster cause he's pretty much the same guy as he was as an Acolyte.

This is the point I was making in the Snitsky thread. He had something that seperated him from the pack, in this case unintentional comedy, which might have been a draw at some point if they did it right. Now he's no different than the rest of the group except he has bacne and yellow teeth. I watch a Snitsky/Val Venis match and I can't help thinking why is Val a ladies man and Snitsky not? The only difference between them is Snitsky's taller. In fact I'd do a gimmick with that where he asks Val that and tries to become a ladies man. When he goes to the dentist to get his teeth fixed the dentist can be Isaac Yankem.

I LOVED this show as a kid I just wish WWE would do this gimmick with say Colin, Mike Knox, and Snitsky Oh...My. I haven't seen this show, or a reference to it, in what must be close to 10 years. Thank you for bringing back forgotten memories.
