- Title chase - Trevor Murdoch break up
That is it, that is the entire summary of storylines currently going on Raw and quite honestly it explains why the ratings are slumping.
Gone are the days where Raw would start with someone gripping, highlight it and advance it half way through and then finish on a cliff hangar.
No, now instead we constantly get people feuding over a belt without any real other cause.
Honestly, I wish WCW hadn't gone under, because this slump is caused by the lack of competition IMHO.

Is it just me or does it seem like there's no feud build-up anymore? It seems like right after a PPV, they have 2 people get in each other's faces and then immediately announce a match, then spend the weeks before it building up the feud. Uh, no, that doesn't make me interested whatsoever. Build up the feud first, THEN put said people in a match. Hell, skip the next PPV and continue to build it up for a month or so. I can't care about a match when you only give it 2 or 3 weeks to grow.

Don't forget the HBK/Batista rivalry, which I'm shocked isn't getting the ratings.

It's both brands, and that HBK/Batista thing is the most exciting feud on any brand this year!
EDIT: My bad, after HBK/Flair of course.

It's unique...the more wrestling they show on Raw...the more the ratings seem to slip.
But, yeah, Batista/HBK has to count as both a Raw and Smackdown feud.
It takes centerstage on both.

The last time a storyline was really hot on RAW was during the Edge/Cena feud. Between July and September of 2006, their feud was showing signs of being the next Austin/Rock. It's too bad Edge moved on to facing off with DX because I really think he and Cena had something special.

My roommate, who had no interest in wrestling at the time, really got into that feud.

We've seen some damn good wrestling matches, though.
Honestly, if matches like Regal/Orton, Mickie/Beth, and Umaga/Jericho are taking the place of storylines, let it be.

Say what you will about Russo, at least he gives everyone a storyline. Today's WWE Creative seems to either not care or be real lazy.

Another reason why tribranded PPVs are an absolutely shitty idea. Yeah, you can get all of your stars on one PPV, but the matches to these PPVs have no buildup hence not increasing buys. Like why would I order Backlash? In the coming months we are going to get bombarded with PPVs with little of consequence happening. I hope ratings get even lower until WWE turn this predictable borefest around.

It's just the same people in the main event over and over again. I mentioned this in wrestler's ages thread, but the majority of the guys on top are in their late 30s, early 40s. 5 years from now, maybe 1 or 2 people are still going to be there. Guys like Jericho who are what...38, 39? They are probably looking to get a couple of more WM paydays and walk out. Point is, WWE isn't building anyone up, and if they do, nobody cares about them b/c they've been booked as jobbers beforehand.
Why am I ordering Backlash if I have a 3 hour RAW this Monday with a King of the Ring tournament?
Combination of giving away too many things on free tv, predictable booking, and the lack of new stars, and Kennedy doesn't count. The crowd is virtually silent every time he wrestles and only pop for his Kennedy Kennedy schtick.

It is like this era, moreso than any other era dont want to let go of the past. Like people not wanting Taker to put anyone over at Mania, wanting HHH to stay in the main event for perpetuity, wanting Chris Jericho back 10 years after his prime. I genuinely hope competition forces WWE to undergo a tearing down and starting over. With more television that ive seen since Mania, WWE wont be worth watching for me just like it wasnt in 2003.

I concur. Look, if Randy's a heel, especially if he's an heel champion who defines an era, Then he should act like one. Get a stable toghether. Get a heel manager. Beatdown potential rivals. Otherwise, "I want your belt." "Well, since you came out here and said that, okay, next PPV" "The Game also wants your belt!" "Thugonomics, You can't see me, Title Shot." At least Edge acted like a heel champion. He has a whole machine going on.
