Where they really misused him at was announcing. They should have kept him on as a full time color guy. Oh well... It was his choice...he wanted to continue being an active wrestler, though he was offered a Tazz-like position. Honestly, I'm still holding out hope that Raven comes back to WWE now and does the color commentator gig...he recently came on record and said that he would never work in WWE, but it's not like many people actually resist those shiny checks from Vince McMahon. I'm just worried about his health, I want him the recover from what he is going through.

It sucked, and he should have by all rights been used more than he was. This was a guy that had the potential to be the second coming of Jake Roberts, and the WWF just totally fumbled the ball on him. Wasn't WWF responsible for dropping the ball with Jake? As for Raven, hell of a talent. Brutally misused. While I don't think he could've been a main eventer, due to him being a 'WCW/ECW' guy, he could've been a very strong mid/upper mid-carder. Plus, how could you not get behind the guy with such kick-ass theme music? www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7hrnrdADZ8

Even though some people may consider this a negative, here's a piece of evidence in Raven's favor...
In an interview, Steve Austin basically said that WWE f***ed up with Raven.
STONE COLD admitted that Raven got a raw deal. That says something. (I think)

Proof that WCW could do some things better than the WWF.

Proof that WCW could do some things better than the WWF. And TNA for that matter.

Love Raven and all... But, after ECW and WCW. It was been there done that seen that TWICE now. Was he misused sure kinda. But, look at the roster. It was pretty good at the time. And I'm sure Raven didn't complain too much when they were sending him his checks. Actually he did. If you've ever seen his shoot interview, he was completely miserable in the WWE. *Deep breath* His debut was very good and his first ever promo was great. ..And..that was about it. He should have completely destroyed Jerry Lawler and moved on. Verrryyyyy sad when Taz and Raven, two ECW legends, can't beat a fifty something announcer. Then he really didn't do much but have hardcore matches with guys like Crash and Steve Blackman. He rarely, if ever, cut Raven style promo's. He got himself into probably the best shape he's ever been in and got nothing for it. Also in his shoot interview, he said that Pat Patterson never understood his gimmick. He came up with an awesome storyline based on the movie Seven and another to turn The Hurricane into a bad guy but the writers wouldn't use them. To me, the best time for him in the WWE was when he was stuck on Heat. It was basically his show, he got to talk every week, and had a storyline that advanced every week. I remember his last match with Jeff Hardy where he came out in trunks and short hair and his unique look was completely stripped away. That totally broke my heart. It was like he was doing everything he could to get something resembling a push. So. Yeah. I wasn't a big fan of his WWE run. His Backlash match with Rhyno was great but he could have done much, much more than that.

Criminal. I hoped he would break out and do something beyong Hardcore matches, but he did the best with what he had while he was there. Does anybody else remember in the triple threat hardcore match at X-7...when Raven gets thrown through the window...didn't he legit whack his head off the wall and get hurt from that? Or am I imagining it?

His run sucked. I always thought Raven was awesome, but they made him look like a pansy...especially when he was being intimidated by Stone Cold. His most memorable moment was Austin starting the "What?" thing with him. I also always thought the 24/7 thing was stupid too...really really stupid.

He was a victim of circumstance. Had he debuted a year earlier, he would have gotten the run he deserved.
Unfortunately, he came right before the WCW debacle and was lost in the shuffle, just like so many other talents.

Remember when Raven was doing the Sunday Night Heat playground storyline and it looked like they were going to create a new Flock when he broke that one jobber guys fingers?
I heard the members of the new Flock were suppose to be
Bull Buchanan Saturn Kidman Godfather as Papa Shango Kanyon as Mortis and Stevie Richards
I really wish they had gone through with that. It would have been really really awesome with that lineup.

"Who the smurf hired Raven?" - Vince McMahon at a creative meeting when Raven's name was brought up. That sums it up What is your source on that information? Because I would love to believe Vince is that vindictive, out of touch, and dismissive of his employees but I have learned to be skeptical of wrestling newz. As far as Raven's run, I understand why it went the way it did and why he was misused. The Raven character just couldn't fit into the corporate, buttoned up structure of WWE television. I'm sure he was also told "you're not big enough to get over." a line of thinking that has cost many lives. He was known mostly for being a hardcore wrestler, which has certain limitations in advancement up the card and the ammount of focus someone would get on tv. Basically, like so many other great characters and wrestlers, they simply didn't know what to do with him. As usual, creative isn't creative enough to figure out and the performer and fans suffer for it. I still like how someone brought up the candy jar. I like on the show how they mentioned "It's a well known fact that JR keeps a jar of candy at ring side." I never saw it before, I haven't seen it since, and it would seem to me it wouldn't be a good idea to be eating candy when you are suppose to be calling a match.

His whole run there as Raven seemed weak to me. Can only remember three matches (his ass kicking courtesy of the undertaker being the only one not already mentioned).

my main memory of raven didn't even come from him anyway, came from Y2J in a smackdown promo in 2000 i think
"what about you, what about raisen?"
Made me laugh. In all seriousness though, they dropped the ball with him completly, almost as much as they did with Jerry Lynn.

The words Raven, WWE and run should never be chained together. Other than smurfing around with the hardcore title he did nothing. He didn't even get the mic. Raven - mic time = lose. They might as well have hired someone else.
