...I've begun to notice so far this year that whenever someone out of the blue is pushed, people speculate on how well CM Punk would handle said push (Lance Cade, Regal, even Jeff Hardy's pushes had this occur) .
Now oddly enough, that doesn't happen here as often- Morrison, MVP and others get said treatment.
I'm starting to suspect that on top of all his talent, one of the biggest reasons is because Punk's not a WWE-bred guy, rather someone who honed his craft as a journeyman and developed a reputation before being signed- and I get the impression that if another wrestler had the same story prior to joining WWE, they would receive the same amount of attention to their success.
BTW, this is a theory coming from a fan. I don't want this taken the wrong way.

Given the fact that the WWE just recently lost a bit of faith in its "farm league" and appears to be eyeing up the ROH as possible breeding grounds for prospects this seems in line. Not sure whether Punk caused them to look that way, or the fact that they are looking that way now causes them to find some hope in Punk but either way it seems like a sign of the times.

Most boards are pretty smarky at this point, there's going to be a core group of people that want to see wrestlers they liked in the indies do well in the WWE. That core group is going to rub off on others, and get more people liking them too. If Evan Bourne manages to do reasonably well in ECW, you'll probably see the same thing happen with him. If Danielson appears in the WWE as rumored, it'll probably happen with him too. That, and also once someone makes up their mind to like a wrestler...they like them. If Punk came out a few times and put on some really crappy matches, people would either make excuses for it or just not care...because they want to like Punk now.

I think no matter what Punk will eventually get over and I have a feeling that he is not going to take the Chris Jericho treatment of being pushed then then pushed down to the midcard. I heard he has kind of an attitude backstage so hopefully if WWE ever screws him over like they did Jericho he tells them to kiss his ass and go to TNA..................where he would get hella over!!!!

BTW, this is a theory coming from a fan. I don't want this taken the wrong way. Based on past experience, as a fan, I've always kinda had, in the back of my mind, a belief that Vince likes to make stars, and wants to be able to point to any star he produces as "Completely WWE made".In the past, unless his business was in trouble and he really REALLY needed a star that already had a fan base, it always seemed to me that he'd break guys down before building them back up. Jericho, Booker T, C.M. Punk, Matt Hardy (After the whole Edge/Lita triangle), and others (Names escape me at the moment) anytime a guy like that comes into the WWE, riding a strong fanbase (That was gained from another promotion, or elsewhere) he goes Midcard and then jobs out pretty well for a while before being built back up. Booker (After the WCW buy out) came in, he had a lot of fan support, he looked good in the ring, and was pretty talented on the mic, but he languished in the midcard for a while, before finally getting to job to Trips, and then more mid-card fun before being built up as a major contender. Again, just my "Theory".

Again, just my "Theory". This is pretty consistent with general WWE booking. The only real times he'll stray from this rule is if it's something exceptional he really thinks will make him money, such as Goldberg. Granted Goldberg in the WWE didn't work out well, but he THOUGHT it would...and it was worth compromising his usual treatment of outsiders. Surprisingly with CM Punk he's gone a new route, one that he should travel more often. Punk has never actually been DEPUSHED, he's just been pushed very gradually. I would venture to guess however, that if Punk were a popular guy from TNA...he'd be handled quite differently. As it is Punk comes from promotions that most WWE viewers haven't seen, and only a relatively small fanbase had actually heard of him before he appeared in WWE. To most viewers, CM Punk will appear to be just a WWE guy and Vince can save a bit of face on the matter. CM Punk can be "HIS" star, at least to most people.

Yeah I dont get why a lot of ppl are up in arms over CM Punk and saying that he is misused, he is getting a huge push. Not a lot of people win Money In The Bank and he did. And also all people who win Money In The Bank win a WORLD TITLE. I mean GEEZ!
