So out of all these people who do you think is the best?
My pick is for Alan Moore if amazing stuff with From Hell, Watchmen, Swamp Thing, Captain Britain, and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. And he just draws you into the story and makes you care about the characters in the book, I mean he made Swamp Thing an interesting hero which is really hard to do.
others I have to say are good are Grant Morrison, although really weak with dialogue and well plot sometimes, one thing I have to say is he has some really good ideas and his work on Doom Patrol, JLA and The Invisibles were very impressive. Millar I'm not high on honesly but Wanted was good. I love Warren Ellis though his stuff with Transmetropolitan and Nextwave was remarkable and some of my favorite stuff. Miller is either great or really shitty sometimes and Gaiman for his Sandman should be on this list but not one my favorites.
But anyway who would you pick as your favorite, even including people not on this list?

Easily Alan Moore. He made my favorite villain, The Joker, even more f***ed up and crazy than ever before.

Other: Brian K Vaughan, Ed Brubaker, Matt Fraction, Bill Willingham, Brian Azzarello. Peter David up there as well, RObert Kirkman for funny. Dan Slott(except for this Spider-man BND stuff), Christos Gage.

Ehhhhhh, I have no real answer yet. Maybe Moore, because Morrison has a lot of hit/miss potential, but I don't feel Moore's pure superhero work can match Roger Stern's.

they're all great, but Alan Moore's in a league of his own. and shame on you for leaving out Geoff Johns, he's better than everyone on this list.
edit: except for the afforementioned Moore.

I voted for Gaiman. The Sandman series is incredible. He's also a great fiction writer in general.
This list needs more Garth Ennis and Brian Michael Bendis.

Anyone who isn't Alan Moore?
Or perhaps will go along and say it could be Geoff Johns and/or Brian K. Vaughan.

For those who said him, I don't think Johns work is varied enough for him to be the best comic writer overall. He may have range, but hasn't displayed it very much. Vaughn I'd be more inclined to lean towards, because he has shown the ability to write just about anything.

Of those listed, Frank Miller, but my personal pick would be Garth Ennis (could that be construed as a Nationalistic bias? )

Vaughn I'd be more inclined to lean towards, because he has shown the ability to write just about anything. that's a fair assessment. but then again, a lot of Gaiman's stuff is in the same vein and that doesn't disclue him either, so... totally forgot about Vaughn. I find it funny, though, that Joss Whedon takes over Runaways and totally screws the pooch only for Vaughan to write a few equally crappy issues of Buffy Season Eight.

But at least Vaughan did his crappy in a timely fashion! I loved the first 18 issues of his runaways run, but he did have a pretty crappy Swamp Thing right around then.

Busiek was responsible for my favorite series of all time in Marvels. I went with the obvious answer in Moore though, as he just edges out some of the competition in volume of stuff to me.

In all fairness Alan Moore wrote the epic masterpeice.
Other then the Watchmen though which is once again words written in gold.
His stuff has been turds at worst and boring at best.
