I really need to get around to getting that DVD. The DVD is a little disappointing, actually. I thought it would have had all of the performances from Wembley that day, but it only has the Queen Superband (or whatever it's called), where many of the performers who played earlier come out and do a song with the surviving Queen members. I remember Extreme did a great tribute to Queen in its set, but it didn't make the DVD.

That was a good performance, but I always thought George Micheals stole the show that day, I am not even a fan of the guy but when i was watching this live, i was like holy shit he is good.

I still have the original concert on tape-Thank God, I heard they did cut some stuff for the dvd release.
This was a huge deal at the time for Axl to do this. Everyone assumed things after hearing the song "One in a Million"

Everyone assumed things after hearing the song "One in a Million" I see parallels between Axl performing with Elton John and Eminem performing with Elton John. But, I will say that the symbolism is enough that I'm glad Axl was involved. Hell, I did NOT know that until now.

This gig was a mixed bag, but George Michael has ETERNALLY sealed my respect for him with his performance. What power, what range, what charisma. Jaw-dropping stuff.
Lisa Stansfield did a reasonable job too.

Freddie Mercury was a huge influence on Axl when he was younger So was Phil Lynott from Thin Lizzy as well as Elton John. You can look at Axl on the surface and go yeah that guy is a huge ass but he had a very crappy life growing up. It is no excuse for some of his actions over the years but If I remember right his step dad was a pentecostal preacher who physically/mentally abused him and his siblings and his real dad sexually abused him when he was real young.

"One In A Million" was very controversial when it came out on the "Lies" album in 1988 because it used derogatory words towards black people and homosexuals.
Here's the best performance from that concert, EXTREME'S medley: (Part 1)
