They were better before they went mainstream and overdid the goth thing. When they were just sort of a "dark" punk rock band. Since they went more mainstream they seem to appeal to the shopping mall goth crowd more than the punks. Believe it or not, but I saw Davey Havoc play a show in jeans, a t shirt, and a baseball hat back in the day. No fishnet clothing whatosever! I can believe that, I've seen old old videos with them all just sorta dressed like normal guys (Very Proud Of Ya era) Oh yea, I saw them during their EP, they were billed at punk shows, that's pretty much what they were. Davey started singing Davey started dressing like a woman Davey started doing 'screamo' Hated them from then on, to me they're the same boat as Green Day, super sellouts to whatever's popular.

My old-band used to play with Gym Class Heroes.... the funny thing is, up until about 2k3 they were still opening for this lame hardcore band at all the shows.

I saw Puddle of Mudd in 2001 (before the album with She Hates Me came out) and they were playing the pavillion stage at a festival here. A year later, they were co-headlining with Korn.

I honestly don't mind what they're doing now. I don't like it as much as I do their older stuff, but it's not all bad.

Quite a few, actually.
Some include Kid Rock, Blink 182, Alkaline Trio, The Hard Lessons, AFI (before they became TRL big anyway), and Dropkick Murphys. Of all that I've seen, I'm the most surprised that Blink 182 made it big. They seem like nice enough guys, but I just don't think they're good. When I saw them there were about three other people watching, and that seemed about right. Then again, they're obviously a huge success now, so what the hell do I know?

I saw Coheed & Cambria supporting Finch in a 300 sized club back in 01, before either of them got really big. I saw Bullet For My Valentine open for 36 Crazyfists in 04 as well, they had just been signed and broke big about 9 months later. Priestess opened for Megadeth back when no-one had heard of them last year, then 'Lay Down' was in Guitar Hero a few months later. There's probably more I can't think of. My brother's seen a lot more than I have, he saw Dragonforce open for W.A.S.P. in a small venue in about 04, and bands like the Kaiser Chiefs and Bloc Party opening shows.

Did see Evanescence twice, though not really my idea of a good time.

Saw Rooney about 5 or 6 years ago. They were actually pretty decent.

I saw White Zombie play with Pantera and Megadeth in the Summer of 93. This was right before they hit big courtesy of Beavis and Butt Head, but we all knew them from the Headbanger's Ball.

I saw Sister Hazel play a few songs during an intermission of a hockey game. Went out and got their CD the next day. I don't know if they were "big" but "All For You" was on the trailer for many romantica comedies in the 90s.

The Libertines, at the Social in Nottingham, which holds about 100 people.
Cornershop, opening a side stage at a festival in Nottingham in about 1993 - their sitar backing tape was better than the band.

I saw Nickelback way before anyone outside of Vancouver ever heard of them back in the mid-late 90's.
I also saw Mathew Goodband perform live before he became popular on Canadian radio. I also met the guy a few times via my French teacher. He always was an arrogant prick.

I think Green Day has pretty much stayed consistent in terms of their music style with the exception of that one song with the cellos. Their "American Idiot" stuff if way too polished sounding for me though. AFI pretty much sounds like everything else now. They wouldn't sound at all out of place on TRL or something like that.
