If John Cena ever saw this thread, he'd go on a 7 minute promo saying how whether you love him, or you hate him, your passion is what inspires him to do what he loves. And what he loves is being a WWE performer. And even though he'll never sit down to Thanksgiving dinner with Randy Orton, or Triple H, or JBL, he's got nothing but respect for their abilities. And he's got the same amount of respect for all of us, whether we love him, or we hate him. Passion. Triple H. Thanksgiving. Poop. Hustle, loyalty, respect. And The Rock would call us all jabronis and tell us he was going to lay the smackdown on our candy asses. Stone Cold would ask people if they wanted to see him take us down and for a Hell yeah, that being the bottom line. Shawn Michaels would say he was going to stop our show. Wrestlers use catchphrases and promo styles, especially now they are scripted out. What's your point?

Cena is an all round good guy though, I think I would kinda feel bad giving him a barrage of abuse for no other reason than being pushed by the creative team who have no real vision on what was needed at the time! LOL, Cena was exactly what was needed at the time. His booking has been a complete success. LOL, that's just as big an exaggeration as 'Everyone hates Cena'.

He's got two different emotions: guy who respects everyone and is essentially a 1950s sitcom character, and the cartoony mad guy who yells everything. And I'm not saying that's even Cena's fault. I like the guy from what I've seen of his personal appearances. I just can't stand his character. It has no edge whatsoever, it's just bland.

I find the aforementioned 3 catchphrase laden promos to be far more cartoony (except Shawn's Hogan impersonation, which was gold) than Cena, but lets face it bro, horses for courses

Yeah, I'm not surprised. A lot of people worldwide seem to hate him. I can't say I'm fond of him either myself. Once he became a non-rapping face a couple years back, I pretty much lost any interest I previously had in him altogether.

Ever notice non-Americans/Canadians/UKs are really bad about timing with wrestling?
Like they always seem months behind on who we like/dislike.

I feel that people in Peru need to grow up, and stop acting like 13 year old internet TNA marks. This is un-called for in professional wrestling. Your suppose to boo the "heel".

Are you being serious or sarcastic? When did these "rules" come into effect? When I was a kid, I loved Mr. Perfect, The Macho King, and Jake the Snake. I didn't boo or cheer for who I was supposed to, I cheered for who I liked. When they start throwing out people who don't follow the "rule" of boos and cheers, then people should freely express their opinions.

Wow, they really hate Cena in Peru. I remember that being the source of that video where the crowd chanted "JOHN CENA SUUUUUUUUUUCKS!" to his entrance music. I actually can't believe that didn't catch on. If the Cena haters really wanted to get to him, they would have started singing that on his entrance. I've never seen that before. I just looked on youtube and could only find Kennedy at a press conference enciting the fans by telling them Cena sucks to wild cheers. Does it still exist on youtube?

Both sides need to agree to meet in the middle. Crowds ARE split on Cena, but it's nowhere NEAR 50/50 anymore. That being said, there is STILL a large enough percentage of fans that are booing the WWE's top babyface that the WWE needs to take a look at the issue. Not saying they need to change anything, but they definitely SHOULD pay attention to the crowd's response.
Maybe the fact that the vociferous opposition HAS died down a bit has something to do with Cena NOT being the WWE Champion anymore......and with him actually being, you know, BEATABLE recently. Then again, Hunter's main color is green, which every comic fanboy knows is the color of Kryptonite....and Cena HAS been looking very pale recently, which might be an indicator that he's not seen much of the Earth's yellow sun, which would mean he's been vastly depowered.

LOL, Cena was exactly what was needed at the time. His booking has been a complete success. LOL, that's just as big an exaggeration as 'Everyone hates Cena'. Not really. People have no clue what kind of marketing objectives WWE has in order to progress their business. If they have decided to go down the family route, then they are going to want a main character who the parents will respect and let their kids watch. It doesn't matter if entire arenas in smarky cities boo Cena, because he isn't who they are targetting. I'm sure the WWE is well aware of Cena's reaction. They pay massive attention to it. The fact that he's been getting these kind of mixed reactions as a top face for almost 3 years now, with the company not changing his character to stop the booing, means that they just don't care about it. It doesn't need to be looked at, because it already has and they've changed nothing. For one, the fans that boo Cena are just as much marks as the fans that cheer him are. They care about the result of the match. Faces and heels are just guides, not strict rules. Also, the WWE using an all round good-guy such as Cena in their main role means they are more defined in who they are marketing towards. The message of their product is clearer. If they want to market to families because they see more long term potential than targetting towards lost attitude era fans, then that's what they are going to do. It doesn't matter if those attitude era fans that have stuck around boo Cena or not, as long as his target demographic is cheering him. As long as they keep attracting new families to the product, then that will mean it is a success. If it means driving away all the clinging on attitude era fans in order to attract newer families, then that will be ok.

ina sort of extension on what wrestlecrapcrapcrapcrap said, vince mcmahon isn't deaf. everyone knows that cena gets a mixed reaction, but what WWE have realised is that here they have a guy who can elicit genuine heel heat, while at the same time getting face pops. people are involved in cena's matches. when he gets beat, you cheer, when he loses, you boo. in john cena, WWE have a way to control the one demographic that's always wanted to rebel. it's no coincidence that cena has had more face vs face matches than any world champ in WWE history. the trick with wrestling is to make fans think that they're in control, when in fact you have them in the palm of their hand. just look at ONS2. every single fan there thought they were sticking it to the WWE, but in fact they were doing exactly what vince wanted them to.

Hopefully all the boos will die down now because all those fans will be shouting themselves hoarse with support for CM Punk...
Right...?
