I don't mean crappy ports, I mean an actual arcade game you were way better at in the arcade than when you played it at home on your console.
For me, the main one is Sega Rally 2.
I rock all sorts of ass at Sega Rally 2, and it has one of my favorite racing game configurations cabinet/control wise (some machines would sway you back and forth during turns)...
But at home, oh god.
I heard "GAME OVER YEAH!!!" more than I ever wanted to. I think I just wasn't able to steer with the same preciseness that I was with the arcade wheel on the Dreamcast's controller.
Speaking of "GAME OVER YEAH!!!", isn't that like...the best way to end a game when you lose? You can't be mad at that...it's almost like it's telling you "Hey, you lost...but it's okay buddy. Try again, don't fret" with it's enthusiasm.
I think I was probably a little better at DDR in the arcades (albeit a lot more self conscious about my motions) than I was at home simply because I didn't have to worry about the controller slipping around and me losing it. I know they had other controllers that wouldn't slip and slide on you, but I couldn't afford them back then.

Yeah, especially with the way a lot of games were in later years, ramped up in difficulty to eat more money and or tokens so that the arcade profits more. It's most definitely a rare case that you have a harder time at home with a game, which is sorta why I was wondering if anyone else had this sort of deal going on.

Can't think of any, I'm definitely better at home than arcades. For some reason I've always had a better time with button combos/Capcom style motions on a D-pad than with a joystick

For some reason I've always had a better time with button combos/Capcom style motions on a D-pad than with a joystick Oh, fighting games for sure are easier at home. Okay, I have to edit that statement. NOT ALL fighting games are easier at home, but some are. I never got the chance to play Soul Calibur in the arcade, but I know I'd be way more comfortable with it on the Dreamcast d-pad than a joystick. Another one that just barely counts: Spy Hunter on the NES Why is it so hard? It was programmed to loop and never end. So you try to survive to get to level two...but ultimately there isn't a level two to begin with. You're just supposed to try to get a high score. Whoopie. That was a big disappointment for me.

Galaga. I can only do good at it in a cabinet. But when I do play it at the arcade, I do very good.

That's my first experience with Game Over Yeaaaahhh!!! That transcends awesome. Any fighting game, really. Circles, half circles, towards to down and roll back up to towards; all that horsecrap is handled so much better with a joystick and arcade button layout while standing in front of a cabinet than it is at home on your couch with a control pad.

Heh, I picked up Sega Rally Revo today for 360, I have NO idea if this is currently an arcade game but it is all of the fun of Sega Rally in HD, complete with "GAME OVER YEEEAAAAHHHHHH!" when you lose. So far, I'm actually shocked at how decent I am at it. It doesn't frustrate me as much as some other rally games do.

Tag Team Wrestling
The arcade game was extremely easy to beat and become World Champ, the NES version was darn near impossible.
