Great condition, 7.95. That's another for my older gen systems to scratch off of the list. Been looking for it for a looong time, almost longer than I looked for Rival Schools (which only set me back 14 something). That's all, just thought it was cool.

Wow, Soul Calibur 0.5? Sweet...
I remember that game. Old school to the extreme.
But, it laid the foundations for the Soul Calibur series, so that's something.

Actually, Soul Calibur is technically Soul Blade 2, SC2 is SB3, SC3 is SB4, and SC4 will be SB5.
They are the same series, just different titles. That is why collectively, Bandai Namco calls the series the Soul series.

Probably my 2nd favorite game in the Soul Series, right below Soul Calibur 1.

So did I, Void. Same exact price even. I didn't buy it though. I pondered several DC and PSX choices, realized I didn't want to spend that much money on what appealed to me and opted for Killer 7 for the PS2. Nothing against Soul Blade, that's just not what I was looking for, really. I played that arcade game to death. Also, Rival Schools for $14!?!? This place is trying to get I think $49 for it and I absolutely love that game. Get it a few years back or something?

(Or IS the foundation. Whatever.) On a Soul-related note, have they explained how Yoda and Vader are gonna be in SC4 yet? (I mean, how it's gonna fit into the lore/story/whatever you call it?)

Uh.... the force? I think it's just a dumb cash in like how SC2 treated everyone to Link, Spawn and whoever the third one was. There will be no effort to blend them into the storyline. They are just there so people that simply can't get enough Star Wars can wet themselves.

Soul Blade is still the superior game. Why? Weapon damage.
It's a good thing that SCIV has a similar system with the soul orb mechanic, so that should be good.

Yeah, except Soul Calibur 4's damage system deals with armor, and when the armor is broken off, you can hit them with a match ending one-hit special move that is different for each character.

I love the Soul Calibur games and I'm kind of embarassed that I'm not familar with Soul Blade. Same on me. But seriously, when I first saw this thread for some reason I thought it would be about a 70s exploitation film starting Blade Braxton. Just a thought. I'm going to get to work writing that one right now.

Which made sense really with Yoshitmitsu in the game already... but yeah.. that's a great price for Soul Blade.. I've still got my original copy though ;D I'm the proud owner of the entire Soul Series so far....

They are from the same family clan and share the same move sets, but other than that they are different. Here is a fun tidbit, Namco(now Bandai Namco) makes both the Tekken and Soul series, and thusly why Yoshimitsu and Heihachi has shown up.

Yeah, at it's another way of penalizing players who guard too often rather then attacking. I just hate fighting games where people just block all of the time.

That is why the Dead or Alive series is one of my favorites. Blocking is hard to do(as many move animations make the characters go into several stances, so you don't know which stance to block), and countering is even harder still. To counter, you have to block the move with the right stance and right block RIGHT as soon as their attack animation begins.

That makes me want to play one.

Yeah, they fixed it, however, since the CPU has the timing skills of a God, if you play the CPU, get ready to be countered a lot.

A new Game Stop opened up back in 2006 and had some PSX stock they obviously didn't want much, and they had two copies of Rival Schools. Both for 14.99, so, I got it. And yeah...DOA4 has almost made me cry from frustration not being able to block/counter.
