He's good when he has someone to play off of. When he's by himself, he's usually terrible. I thought tonight was one of his worst promos ever. Laid it on way too thick and went on for too long.

His promos....generally either bore me, or make me change the channel out of disgust. After last week's.....unpleasantness with all the limo stuff, I'm glad I did miss tonight's Cena rant.

It did sound a little forced but for the most part I didn't think it was bad. I honestly though he was great on the mic during the whole Thuganomics stint but for the last three years he has been below average on the mic.
I guarentee you that this hard promo is a clue that he is either turning heel soon or is just going back to Thug Cena.

As long as he doesn't over do the gay and poop jokes I'm a big fan of Cena. I liked him a lot more when he was the heel thug on SD! though.

How can anyone blame this poor bastard? His promo's for the last couple of years have clearly been written by the "creative geniuses" of the Raw writting staff. I mean take a look at this promo here: VS This one: Now tell me WTF is going on here? Ever since the whole Janet Jackson boob incident the entire entertainment industry has been on lock down a few months later ever since meaning the WWE can't do anything that is risque or even controversial anymore and it sucks. Everyone has to be policitally correct now inculding the wrestlers in the WWE and as a result none of the younger talent has a shot in hell of getting over as a face and I do not like it.

He's always been good.
I'd love to know what people's definition of terrible is. Did he hype his PPV match? Yes. Did he build his rivalry with JBL? Yes. And most importantly; Was the crowd hanging off of his every word? Yes.
It doesn't matter if you found it corny or whatever, because that doesn't make it a bad promo by definition.

I tuned out after about 30 seconds. He had me up until he said something about how he had been trying to keep smiling after what happened to Vince and his great company. Then I rolled my eyes. Then I think I looked up something on Wikipedia. Then I resumed viewing when the interview was over.

Big suprise here I'm sure, but I thought it was fantastic. Had an old school backstage feel to it. I'm gonna kick your ass at the PPV because I hate your guts. Old school feud. Kinda reminds me of Scott Keith's review of the Blanchard-Magnum cage match at Starrcade 85. Backstory: They hate each other. Thats all you need to know.

I thought Cena's promo last night was ridiculous. WAY too over the top and melodramatic. "Hell on Earth?" Come on, man, that's like when Triple H and Batista were feuding and they were talking about how they were going to take their souls to the depths of hell or some other crap like that. Not only was Cena's promo last night way too melodramatic, it went on way too long as well. I like intensity and all, but that was pushing it. But that's just my humble opinion.

He cuts a serious promo, you bitch. He cuts a funny promo, you bitch. The guy could strip Mickie down completely nude on RAW and you guys would complain that he looked like he was pooping while he did it.

Don't get me wrong, I like his serious promos, I just think this one went too long and a lot of what he said was over the top. On the flip-side, I also enjoy his comical promos, but when a lot of his insults border on the childish I tend to roll my eyes. He's been able to find plenty of happy medium in the past, last night just didn't do it for me is all.

Cena can do good promos, he can do great promos in fact. Most of them are average, which makes sense but last nights was poor.
"JBL, this Sunday, you will die, you will die slowly. Your stomach will swell, your intestines will writhe and boil, your eyes will burst; and some horrible stuff, possibly your brains, will start coming out through your nose..."

I think Cena has an excellent speaking voice and is a good mic worker, but I just thought last night's promo was a little much. It just kinda went on and on, and seemed a little too "Hollywood" to me. Of course cheesy as the speech was, Cena did deliver it well. Of course the real story here is that I watched the entire promo from start to finish, because I was just waiting for another lamp to fall over. So apparently WWE did something right last week....

I do agree with the people that complain that his promos flip-flop too much between funny Cena and angry Cena, but it's for that reason that I thought last nights promo was a good one. He didn't once attempt to crack a joke that I remember, so it really told you that he hates JBL.

That stuff was terrible. He was trying way too hard to make some dramatic Hollywood style speech, and it went on for way too long...

I don't think Cena's great on the mic. I think he's NATURAL on the mic. Most wrestlers have a promo kind of character, and then a real-life kind of character. Watch Cena on the mic, and watch him in an interview, and it's the same natural charm. Either he lives his gimmick, or he's just himself on the mic, and it works either way. What he says isn't always great, but the way he says it is excellent.

I thought it was a good promo
But i agree it was a tad long, but it was still better than the usual Gay/poop/pop culture joke promos we've had for a while.
