Simply put, I don't see why everything has to be non-stop thrashing and noise all of the time. Why is it so horrible when a song categorized as a "rock song" focuses on harmony rather than aggression?

I just hate it when artists that are NOT rock are referred to as rock, i.e. Madonna, Barenaked Ladies, Robbie Williams, James Blunt, etc.
Oh, and while I'm at it.....the likes of N'Sync and The Backstreet Boys are NOT boy bands!!! They are boy GROUPS. To be a band, you have to play instruments!
But back to the topic at hand, I don't know what songs or types of songs you're referring to as "wuss rock", but I agree that not all rock songs have to be crazy thrash to be considered good rock. Although, there is definitely something good to be said for crazy thrash rock.

I like hard rock and heavy metal a lot more than the mediocre soft rock people who are coming out with music today.
I like older soft rock like Phil Collins.
Also where did all the hate for Nickleback come from? They seem to have had major non-deserved X-Pac heat for the last few years. I remember when their first CD came out and everyone liked them...............yes EVERYONE.

I haven't really listened to a lot of their stuff since but everything I have heard sounded like they weren't even trying anymore. It's not even X-Pac heat considering they're still selling out arenas everywhere. It's more like Triple H heat.

Agree - a good song is a good song.
The thing that irks me about modern rock that I wish would come back is that it's forgotten to be a PARTY and is all about introspection now (since Nirvana), although there are definitely some unabashed rock and roll groups still out there - The Hives and The Donnas (well, at least their early stuff) come to mind.

I remember when their first CD came out and everyone liked them...............yes EVERYONE. I love their first album. It's one of my favorite albums. After that, however it just seemed like each album got a little worse and now, they're just not very good. Of course that's just my opinion.

I guess my definition of "Wuss Rock" is anything seemingly made with the explicit purpose of serenading chicks... that Ryan Cabrera, Jason Mraz, John Mayer stuff....
Nothing wrong with it, for those who like it, I just feel like going postal every time I hear it.

Indie isn't rock the same as the beatles weren't rock. Indie is the new pop music (POPULAR MUSIC, ITS IN THE NAME). It is not rock. they are not soft rock. HAVING A GUITARIST, A DRUMMER AND A BASS PLAYER DOES NOT MAKE YOU A ROCK BAND, NO MATTER WHAT HARMONIX TELLS YOU.

I'm fine with soft-rock, my main problem is when tracks that are clearly not rock are considered rock and therefore get played on Rock radio stations. Worst example of this is when crap like the Veronicas and The Presets get played on the local rock station.
Put me in the crowd for the dislike of Nickleback, their earlier stuff was pretty decent but it went downhill quickly.
