RAW Review: Aug. 4, 2008
Please, first week of Adamle--how can anyone stay in their seats? Wow, excitement beyond anything I've ever experienced. Has everyone taken an aspirin and checked their blood pressure? Hold on-one things for sure, when you start out in complete misery, then it has to get better.
Kofi Kinston & Paul Burchill
Seconds short of 4 minutes but had to enjoy everything I saw in Paul. If he's not the real deal, I'll kiss your ass. Timing, vicious, aggressive, solid and most of all, does nothing stupid to discredit his talent. Kofi, exceptional show, although next time you go to kick someone, come at the target and make them avoid it. Never liked it when taking the shot and too obvious, never extended to connect.
I truly expect someone to take a look at Paul and give the man an opportunity. Promise you this--there are many with opportunity much less talented.
Nice sequel to women's match. Don't think anyone missed music, pyro, and wasted time.
Katie Lee Burchill vs Mickey James
Jump start and don't slow down, love coming back from break and match in progress. It stirs curiosity as to what we may have missed. Makes the fan get settled quick so they might catch up so won't miss anything else. Same goes for Katie, as Paul. Simply some of the best talent available. Be careful ladies, being reckless on any uncontrolled movement, pace or landings will sooner or later cost you or your opponent. Crisp, solid and deliberate execution of moves and the way to keep you and opponent safe. Reckless, swift and rushed, will end your careers way before the road has ended.
Surprised by good lifter by Katie.
A wrestler should always be aware of his position, opponents position and where the two of them will go next. Tripping, falling, slipping and missed steps will hurt you and opponent. There have been many guys who held back when in the ring with inexperienced and reckless talent. When holding back or being concerned or unsure of safety issues, normally causes the flow and rhythm of match out of sync. Result--not so good match.
Mickey J., I shouldn't have led you to think I was complimenting you on DDT last week. You misunderstood me. What I said was yours was better than HHH but both so far from correct.
Warning: Paul & Katie
Sometimes, actually most when you perform as smooth and natural as you two are, there is a huge danger! That is being able to perform and make your opponents raise the bar can win you the position of professional ENHANCER, (aka jobber) for those who can't pull the wagon. Sounds crazy but its true. There have been many GREAT, GREAT wrestlers so good they were given the position to even make the bad look good. Most weren't even given the top slot because they were too valuable to company making chicken soup out of chicken shit. Ex.. Anyone who worked with Warrior: there are many others especially today. So walk strong but watch the pitfalls of being a rear polishers performance.
Glamazon certainly impressive and seriously different, still reminds a little of Chyna. The whole saga continues, at least this one is amusing and fun. Santino thanks again, Santino. Your character is great.
Adamle - Glamazon and Santino
Santino , welcome interview--you are a cross between Scooby-Doo, Pepe La Pew, and Felix the Cat.
Strange match for Summer Slam. For me, it just cheapens Intercontinental belt and Women's title. Wow! Sorry that's way off base. Can't possibly be lowered more than current respect given to any of the 50 belts.
Leila, Diva search winner, and Noble. Miami heat dancer or gold club performer. Sorry, looks great, super dancer, classy, not slutty, but this could be a wrestling show if we can only change the other 75% of product on the table. 4 1/2 minutes devoted for segment. Hasn't been a match given that much time.
Regal, thanks for coming down and stopping me from achieving proper wood. Then again, after last week's match with CM, I still had remnants from the match you provided. Great thing--you seemed to bring a mystery with you and your presence and you don't give hints as most people do. Noble-Regal … I want a fist fight, I'm sorry, I meant cat fight. Noble, you have stood up like a man for blind and unreturned love. Week after week struggle to establish a gracious and accommodating young man and the outcome is the same--a chuckle or two. Next week: exposed trailer park, drop ever lower a swish-off by bimbo-my ass kickin which seems to arrived at least turn some pity switch in her cold stuck up heart. Where's the judge? Example--see a Divorce Court-scripted.
In opening, Adamle claims to be 5'9". If that's legit, then Jericho is no more than 5'10"… huh!? Also took credit for tag team Champ last week, replacing Duggan with Michael Cole and actually took credit for that insanity and called it invigorating enthusiasm and excitement. Maybe when you are learning something about psychology you might come to the truth. Truth is all races start home and each start accelerate for the finish. In wrestling, there must be ups and downs. Pause, stop, fast forward, getting there in the correct order is the key. Want to know the order? Nature shows us every day is different, and so is the formula.
JBL-CM Punk-Jericho
Watching CM come down hall, looking as if somebody had pissed in his hairdo, and he couldn't do anything about it.
Lamb to be slaughtered. Nose looked to be healing from Regal. Again, the way to create a star is to create dire, cards stacked against and seem hopeless--but with our fans supporting us, we are able not only to survive but strive against all odds.
Don't you just hate corner with men who are constantly in wrong space screwing up things and exposing the bit by their microphone, OR, maybe it's scripted material and no one is sure of first thing. Might as well have match explained on cue cards, then we won't even hear the expressions. Too many chiefs and not enough Indians.
Ever consider that attitude, personality, respect or lack of it, all contribute to possibility of success? Bottom line, C.M.,you are being punked. You seem to hesitate, lay behind or just not the same page! Don't be afraid to appear or bluff your way into the fans hearts. Just got your ass kicked again tonight. How long will you have the belt? When you drop it, are you going to be satisfied or feel like you were cheated?
Don't be hesitant to step up--hell, you are the champ! Don't appear to us as the chump. Kick into overdrive and don't sink own ship. You only fail when you don't try.
Shame on you Chris Jericho. You have the better physique between the three of you. Didn't say you were the biggest, but S match progresses mind starts wondering somewhere else… care to guess? Hint? Ever watch Seinfeld? George's father has some affliction as do JBL and Jericho--than God Kramer had the creative mind to come up with nifty invention to shape and stabilize, support and separate the ever so dangerous pear shaped man boobs-the Man Bra.(the BRO)
No doubt the WWE has stepped up the testing and taken a stand. The playing field for all seems to be leveling out and then some. JBL, haven't seen that much to and fro since Mae West left or maybe the saddlebag exhibits of the lady on
There's Something About Mary. Maybe time for male enhancement. Both of you have been testing clean for some time. It would seem, whatever you both do, don't even consider piercing on chest as they would become a relatively unstoppable sniper. No way to ever guess which way those rather large pebbles will lunge. Ripple you both did.
JBL clothesline doesn't seen to do anything but match--your sluggish opponent--proves that even with bad components given time, regardless of how sloppy exposure of performance, the fans still have opportunity to get with the match or maybe just forced to do so to stay awake.
Piss poor excuse for a match--I'm sure I've seen worse before although I can't remember when.
Shawn--Ah Shawn, you look like hell boy. Time has stolen all from everyone and will continue too.
Feel somehow, Jericho will wind up beating CM for belt in near future. Perhaps in celebration will be too much for you to swallow. The segment provided with everything in slo-motion proves my point that if everyone would slow down the formula still works.
Striker-Kane
So this bozo goes to Smackdown to replace Foley? Seems I was right about Foley's very poor and useless commentary. His command of mic skills didn't show up. Doesn't measure up to him jumping or falling off horrible heights and calling it wrestling. Ouch…
Adamle--first week and you want to take away the fear of Kane. Everyone wanted to know what's in the bag. And you simply say you'll take it away from him and find out yourself. Sometimes better to be thought a fool and keep mouth shut than to speak up and erase all doubt.
Tag Match---
Showcased Cena, Batista's power, quickness, and overall ability. Pushing towards Summerslam match-up. Smart spot to hurt Batista, should have kept him on the mat. Come back by Cena… not sure I buy those shoulder blocks … great idea to tag behind Cena's back and take over. Cody--decent DDT but still rushed. I liked the double suplex, after all it's a tag team and why was Cena blocking a drop kick? Again, some smart spots by heels, but the worst was Cena not selling the punches or kicks. Sleeper hold, who still buys that one? Batista doesn't tag, Cena in sleeper in 30 seconds then powers out. And reversed. Cody comes off the top with whatever… and that wouldn't have broken an egg. Cena quits selling, slaps Batista for the tag. Batista comes in, takes it out on the champs. Did anyone notice how long Batista sold? Nearly a minute. Cena sells for over 5... this tells me Batista is turning heel and all in all, piss poor job in selling by both.
Might as well expect a tournament after Slam for tag titles. Myself I wouldn't because I would wait as everyone expects it and do it in a tag title defense. NOW, did anyone check the time on these guys posing with the belts? 3 minutes. That's sick. But the biggest thing that burns, as it is, if someone slaps me in the face, the fight goes right then. This must be addressed or Batista loses respect. Wouldn't be surprised if it's overlooked.
I've seen worse Raws and expect more of the same.
