This isn't a "what's the best business decision" or "who deserves it more" thread. Just act like a fan for a minute here. Not so much asking when, but who are you really hoping/are really cool with beating Punk for the gold. This may be easier for those who aren't fans of CM in the first place For me it's this guy: Also kind of hope it's that guy:

I'd like to see Jericho get the gold.

Jericho and Orton sound good to me, if they were to keep the Kane thing going and have a good payoff with it I honestly wouldn't mind it being him either.

Jericho definately, he's got the right momentum going for him. I mean this in an unbiased way too (I'm a huge Jericho mark if that hasn't been made clear before...).
Though Orton would work too.

Cena, at his absolute smilin'-est, superman-est, poopy-saying-est, mixed-reaction-babyface-y-est best.
I then want the camera to sweep the arena to show groups of fans that are clearly booing and enraged, occasionally cutting to very obvious pre-taped footage of plants cheering (holding signs like "I hate Edge and Vickie" and "I came to see SmackDown"). Then, I want the camera to pan around and zoom in on a window at the very back of the arena, which shows that it's a dark and rainy night outside, with a crying "Big" Dave Batista peeking in.

Yeah the problem with punk is not really the way he's been booked, it's that he doesn't have any great heels to fued with.
He suffered the same that anyone relatively new who comes in and wins a title suffers, but magnified since it was the world title (a la the Lashley Affect). The thing is that he came in and beat a dominant champion out of the blue which is great but didn't mean as much since he wasn't the one who spent months chasing him so it was more of "Yeah edge isn't champio" moer than a "Yeah Punk finally won the title". He needs that spectular build up that makes him worthy of hte title rather than given a title and expected to prove himself.
I think Orton or Jericho would be a great Villain to make Punk a great hero.

THIS. As much as I'm getting to like John Cena....it's not time for him to be back in the Title picture yet. And HHH has HIS WWE Title. So I could kind of see Cena jumping to SD to take his gold back. Besides, if SD is hurting for heels so much that they're booking HHH against Khali, they need to just send some of RAW's over to compensate. JBL, Orton, or Jericho would work, or even turning Hunter and sending Cena after him would be good too.

You'd probably see one or two fans that are enraged, but that's it. I doubt it'll be a big ECW ONS-esque reaction for it.

I was posting what I want to see.Ideally, the camera, while panning through the crowd for reactions after Cena beats punk, would also cut in and out to "WWE Fan-Cam" to show webcam shots of members of the interweb wrestling community, sitting at their computers and choking on their own rage/pork rinds.

jericho, this current change in character and booking has really put him in a spot to be a serious top heel for once in his career, but he really needs a title to solidify it, hes been close but no cigar one too many times

I have 2 thoughts.
If they are going to run with Batista/Cena as tag champs for a good few months before building up to a Mania title match then I'd want Batista to win it at around Armageddon after turning heel.
However if they aren't going to do that, and Cena/Batista isn't going to be the Raw main event, then I want Punk to hold all the way until Mania before dropping to Cena. After turning heel himself mid way through, after he finally overcomes some big odds, gets truly established, then turns.

Funaki.
But it would be a Maven at the 2002 Rumble-like situation where Funaki wins via roll-up and an enraged Punk destroys him and kicks his ass all over the arena.
And as the show closes with Cena/Batista, the beating continues to the concession stands with coverage on split screen.
