Good lord. The Hard Justice card has only 6 or 7 matches. 4 of them are gimmick matches. When was the last time you saw a card that included A no DQ tag team match A last man standing match A black tie and chain match (whatever the hell that is) At a steel cage match WITH WEAPONS! This might be alright if you overlook the fact that this week's impact, the one that aired three days prior to the PPV and that's sole purpose was to build suspense for the PPV included A no DQ women's match An 8-man no DQ tag match And a guantlet WITH WEAPONS. Ugh

I don't get all the hate for gimmick matches sometime.
Only when it limits the wrestlers' abilities to perform well (weapons matches) I don't see the big deal about No DQ, Last Man Standing, Steel Cage etc.
I don't know - I guess it just doesn't bother me.

Gimmick matches should be a rarity and a feud ender or just in a spacial occasion they are something that should add to a feud or PPV or show not the be all and end all of just about every match. This is how those matches get tired FAST. They should be something spacial and a treat for the fans. Unless you have a separate division (like the X Division or Hardcore division etc). Then those specialty matches obviously HAVE TO BE on the card.

I think that one show a year should end up being just straight traditional wrestling. I mean, no gimmick matches...Just one on one for gold. Let it be Final Resolution or Destination X ors omething....just give me straight wrestling.
I'm a huge fan of TNA because they do have so much potential, but seriously, they need to lay off gimmicks....
...that, and let Sabin and Shelley just run wild.

Well, they did brand Hard Justice as TNA's most hardcore event of the year last night.

I'm one of those guys who thinks people are way too harsh on TNA...
but having a Weapons Gauntlet match before a PPV where the main event is a weapons cage match is quite possibly one of the most retarded things I have ever heard about ever.

I don't mind gimmick matches but just not all the smurfing time. Unless your name is ECW which then is understanable.

And we all forget the past few months where it wasn't like this? Okay......
I don't get the hate, especially since they aren't sticking them to any old match. You have Team 3D toss Cage into a glass table and give Rhino concussion and expect some regular tag match? Have Angle attack AJ every time they meet and yell about his wife, and expect some civil 1 on 1 stuff? You get some crazy interference at the last world title and you just hope no one comes out this time for your "mat classic"?

Already posted about this in the Hard Justice thread. It is getting horrible. The worst case however was when they had a "King of the Mountain" match with the X-Division wrestlers on the iMPACT BEFORE Slammiversary. The amtch was good no doubt but that is on the same calibur of WWE having an elimination chamber on the Smackdown before a PPV where the main event is a chamber match. I may also add that the King of the Mountain match had little to no hype either.
REALLY WCW 2000 stuff right here.

I really don't have a problem with traditional "gimmick" matches (no DQ, cage, last man standing)... I just don't like the gimmick matches with blatantly stupid names and bizarre stipulations... the one that matches that criteria at Hard Justice is the "Black Tie and Chain Match"... I can almost guarantee that there will be "Fire Russo" chants during that match... the other matches should be good though

*throws in a vote for the "Gimmick matches should be rarities and almost always a feud-ender, not a feud-continuation that requires an even MORE elaborate gimmick match to end the feud" side*

TNA wants desperately to be ECW... even thought it reminds me more of WCW, they clearly want to be ECW. They need to stop trying to be something else and just BE TNA.

Well, they did brand Hard Justice as TNA's most hardcore event of the year last night. This is the answer, but I'm guessing most people that are ripping on TNA here didn't actually watch the show the past couple weeks. This year, TNA has made a point to make Hard Justice a "hardcore" themed PPV. I know in the past it has just been a regular PPV, but this year they are trying something different with it. So to answer the original question, the last time I saw a PPV with this many gimmick matches was WWE One Night Stand a few months ago.

the one that matches that criteria at Hard Justice is the "Black Tie and Chain Match"... I can almost guarantee that there will be "Fire Russo" chants during that match... the other matches should be good though You mean two grown men dressed in tuxedos trying to violently strip each other down to their underwear won't go over in the hyperconservative Southern 18-34 male demographic? I mean, talk about "crossing the line".. last week we had Super Eric rummaging through Sonjay Dutt's trunks to get a ring out, and now this? On that note, I'd just like to point out that, considering that Val knows just where that ring was all that time, she sure put it on her finger awfully fast. I'd be picking that thing up with tweezers and getting some rubbing alcohol long before that thing got near my naked skin. But that's just one fellow and his opinion. Incidentally, it's a "Black Tie 'Brawl and Chain'" match, if I recall correctly. Given how many man-hours were wasted thinking up that grievous pun, we should at least give it its proper due

They confirmed that BTB&C is in fact a chain match with both guys wearing tuxedos. Hopefully not with the aim of stripping each other of them.
