Im interested to see how much you guys know or have seen of the modern british scene. I've been around the British indys for a while and recently came back from a 2-3 year stint away from it all, opening my own promotion. Over the time i've gone some of the wrestlers i know have improved or new ones have come on the scene that have blown me away. This is currently being reflected in North Amercia just now to an extent. Drew Galloway, Shemus O'Shaunassey, Paul Burchill all made thier name on the British indys and have all been seen in WWE in some capacity. There are also a couple of others in the WWE development system. The US indys also have thier UK stars; Doug Williams is a product of the UK indys and Nigel McGuiness was born in London. Now, there are so many wrestlers ready to break through to the US stage. Workers like Darkside, Liam Thompson, Martin Stone, Johnny Moss and Pac to name only a few class acts. There is such a wealth of talent here and its such a shame that so few people can come to the shows and see the talent on display. Have you guys ever heard of any of the above wrestlers or any others? Any opinion of British Wrestling in general?

I like Pac. But at King of Trios that IPW-UK team bored the hell out of me.
They were Martin Stone, Terry Frazier & Sha Samuels.

I cant see that team being exciting at all actually! Terry and Sha are just average workers, infact im puzzled why those three would be together?

They were three guys from England to be Team IPW UK. That's all. It was just them representing the company I guess. It's probably not a good representation for your company though. Team ROH was Shane Hagadorn, Rhett Titus and Alex Payne.

Ive only ever been to one English indy show, and it was just one of the stupid ones that goes nowhere. Same everynight. I forget what it was called but it had UK undertaker and the 400 stone pitbulls lol,
Are there any sites you could reccomend to help me get into English wrestling?

Same with me although I did see Johnny Storm who I think is pretty good, I later saw him wrestle AJ Styles during the first week of the wrestling channels life which resulted in me getting into both TNA and ROH. Johnny Storm saved wrestling for me all thanks to a crappy indy promotion.

Good luck on your promotion by the way. If I lived closer to Glasgow I would have seen more Indys by now but I am aware of some wrestlers on the British scene thanks to the Wrestling Channel but they were pretty old.

Its just that its a bad choice to represent the company because a) They have better workers (that could help guide ROH trainees thriugh the motions) and b) Those guys just dont compliment each other at all!!! Our company is based in Dumfries, Scotland and not in Glasgow! The wrestling channel used to be great for British well, English wrestling, used to never be off my tv now its all UFC and i dont watch it. recommended websites: www.ukff.com (UK Fan Forum, may be of use for discovering companies etc, give it a good look through!) www.scottishprowrestling.com (For info on my events, there isnt much up just now, its not even technically finished but feel free to have a look!) issue: Hope you can find some work that you enjoy as the british indys are as strong if not stronger than the US indy for talent. The top workers here could easily go over to ROH and hold thier own, as has been seen on various UK events when ROH, PGW, etc talent has come over here to work. Unfortunatley like any wrestling circuit in the world you do have promoters that have no clue and essentially just hurt business by putting on tribute shows and poor quality ones too!

I know its in Dumfries but there are more Indys in the Glasgow area (to my knowledge). I don't there are any in Edinburgh. If there was it would make things easier.

I've only seen UCW and PWU (the same company - just changed it's name to PWU over time). Been to about 6 or 7 shows maybe. That's about all I know about UK wrestling. I've heard of the guys you mentioned but I don't know ANYTHING about them in reality. The best local wrestlers I've seen were Dunkan Disorderly, The Machine and Joey Blayze. There are a few other good ones here, but those are the main 3 I'd say are talented. If UK wrestling had a TV deal it might help. Just a pity nobody will put it on even at obscene times of day. I'd watch.

There is a company in discussions with a couple of channels just now but cant really reveal anything more, hopefully it goes through though. I'd suggest getting some DVDs of smaller companies, my SPW card is somewhat of a UK supershow and id suggest watching it just to see some talented guys, trying not to self hype. Premier British Wrestling has some good DVDs too aswell as 3 Count Wrestling. 1PW was the major company but they are just a bunch of money marks bringing in US stars and making no profit, essentally killing the company.

i watch most of the promotions shown on Fight Network (formerly Wrestling Channel) such as LDN, 1PW, RQW, IwW, IPW-UK and the rest. S.O.S., Galloway, McGuiness, Jody Fleich ,Jonny Storm and Andy 'Boy' Simmons deserve higher things

Slow buisness is typical of the UJK indys, alot of guys have no idea how to promote and market, even simple stuff. They dont know thier market and aim in the wrong direction. Agreed nealo every one of those boys deserve more! What about you guys from North America? seen anything?

there are some great wrestlers on the british scene, but for every martin stone, andy boy simmons or doug williams there's a thousand "british pitbulls", and various other fat, out of shape old men who saw big daddy wrestling and thought "i could do that". also there are some horrible british bookers out there, which doesn't help, especially when booking someone like pac who, due to his size, requires fairly decent booking to get over.
i think that american companies should really raid the UK scene, because there are some gems there, but in the situation they're in alot of them are just treading water, IMO.
