I'm being interviewed for a promotion at work, I'd have to move to one of those two areas if I got the spot. Where are decent areas to live.. where should I avoid.. what should I expect to pay ?
How easy is it to get Steelers / Penguins games down there ? I'll be surrounded by Redskins, Ravens & Capitals fans *dies*

I'm in neither Baltimore nor DC but I'm near both. Pittsburgh is about 6 hours away from either of those places. You're closer to Philly than Pittsburgh.

It wont be easy to get the games, but like Cowboys fans, there is actually a sufficient number of them. Steelers and Cowboys fans are actually I believe the most abundant of the fans that are not Redskins or Ravens fans. Yeah.....I know that is somehow suprising.

The Caps aren't as big down there, so I don't know how bad that would be.
As for football, well, you'd be SOL. I don't think you'd get that many games. Because Baltimore is in the same division, they will never show a Steelers game that is on at the same time. I think I got maybe half of the Eagles games while I was in school there, so I'd guess that is about as many as you could see.

Hey.....but like i said, you would have a probability to find Steelers fans and they probably do have Direct TV with the NFL Game Plan.....I know my neighbors (who are Steelers fans) have it.

I live in DC.
Depending on your income, good places to live would be Adams Morgan, Columbia Heights, Georgetown, Silver Spring (Maryland). In Virginia, Arlington is also a good place to live as well as Alexandria.
It all depends on what you're looking for really. Columbia Heights for example just opened up a mall about 6 months ago that has a Target, Best Buy, Bed Bath and Beyond, a gym, Radio Shack, and other stores and the condos they are putting up are really nice and state of the art.
As for sports, you're better off getting those packages that offer out of town games.
Edit: Avoid Southeast DC at all costs.

Thanks for the info guys. At this point, if I'm made to transfer, I'm leaning towards the Baltimore area. guess I'll know more when I talk to my Ops Manager later on
